Maps advancements

Post by Ertox »

Hello everybody, I'd like to share some images of the advancement of my complicated maps (or maps with interesting design). You can also take screenshots when you're making a map to put in this topic :) . It's a symmetric 8 players map for ffa or 2v2v2v2. The name is Urban Scraps.
links to the screenshots in a chronological order:

I hope you will enjoy my map ! :D

I love it. Lots of strategy possibilities here. :D

Can't wait to play it! I think Urban would look great for the tileset.

Very well done. :)

Ertox, don't say you are painting all this manually  You should definitely try to use image editors (photoshop?) to prepare heightmaps. It simplifies things a lot, allowing to easily make this sort of things.

The map isn't finished... and please wait until I upload it and that it's approved in the add-ons. For the next maps, I will add them in this topic when they're finished. Here it's a huge map that I love to edit. :)
Oops, :!!!: I forgot that I have the objects to add for decoration.

I understand that's a bit crazy to do all manually but I like to be on the terrain when I develop a sketch of the heights. I read the mapping tips, the following maps will be prepared with the heightmaps tool... Thanks for your tip.

One moment please. Scavengers? 8 players with scavengers? This won't work with the latest stable version, right? ;)

Apart from that, a very cool map ... it would be played, i think :3

All right, it's a master map...
Now some pictures about the progress of my first 3 players map. I used the heightmap that I sketched in GIMP for the heights. I had some problems because I used the brush tool and when I imported the picture in Flame and that I put the cliffs, it was very confused. O_o

We can't attach more than 3 files. There's so this preview :
I did in the order the texture, height corrections, bases placing, other object and scavengers adding.

It's a master map too. I wishes this map will be part of the maps in inclusion to 3.0. :hmm:
By the way, Noq are you exceeded by my new maps? I'd like that my maps are approved to the Add-ons.

And what i mean is the map is so good that i'm going to make a v2.3-compatible re-make if the author isn't going to do that :P
I'd like that my maps are approved to the Add-ons.
Even when they are approved, they won't appear in the list unless the latest stable version supports them. Maps for v3.0 are currently explicitly hidden in Addons.
