Map request for mini cam

Post by milo christiansen »

I am currently working on a mini cam to replace the fastplay mission with something more fun for experienced players. The proof of concept mission is about half done, and when it is finished I plan to start on the actual mod. The only problem is that I suck at making asymmetrical maps and so I am looking for someone to make a map for it to use.

Requirements;
.fme or .lnd of map :P (attach here with map editor screen shot and description)
map must have a clearing for a player lz in one corner
multiple small enemy bases scattered around map
one large enemy base that can only be reached by going through at least 1/3 and at most 3/4 of the small bases preferably more than one path
enemy and player MUST have NO trucks or factorys of any kind

Other things (player units, special buildings, ect.) will be added by me, and I will do a bit of tweaking to the map.
I don't care what tileset the map uses but striking terrain is a plus.

The POC is done and is in the challenges forum for those who want to see what I'm talking about.

.

For those not comfortable making asymmetric maps, but are daring to try their hand at it, there's an intriguing option I've experimented with that can be thoroughly effective.

I explain it here:

Any questions arise, I'll answer 'em.

I've put some very heavy defenses on the main base; i hope i didn't overpower them (:
P.S. i've never tested the map myself, 'cause it's unplayable as skirmish.

Here's a test mod.

Included in the zip:
test.wz
3 modified.fme
log.txt

log .txt is a copy of my log file from warzone v3.0b4 with a list of missing buildings and misplaced features, all minor stuff nothing that makes problems for the mission.

3 modified.fme is a (very slightly) modified version of 3.fme. the only real change was to make the LZ 3x3 instead of 2x2.

@hao: If you could play the mod once or twice and tell me what you think...

That goes for anyone for that matter.

I wish i had more free time. I would make a little TD(or serviveing map) map via scripts. Its isn't hard enought to make as I thought.
As for this mini cam - I hope to see something interesting.

You did start it as a cam mod right?

I tried it both as cam mod and as global mod, getting the same error. Game version 2.3.6.

Are you useing a 3.0 beta? if not I bet the vidmem.wrf files are different from what you need.

Open base.wz and in the wrf folder copy widmem3.wrf. Rename your copy to vidmem.wrf. Use this file to replace the one in the mod. be happy :)

Or you could just use the latest beta

Sorry, I forgot that the new terrain uses different wrf files.
