maps are more than just land masses

Post by Crymson »

Just a comment. :)

I have been trying a few maps and I noticed some of them don't have any structures or walls available when you start with advanced bases.

All maps should have the requirements that they should only be in the addon area when they are fully done, just like all the maps that were made from pumpkin.

I would like to create some maps, but as for now the MAC version of the map editor is pretty much garbage, or unusable to anyone who is not a computer genius.
My multiplayer name is Verin
Usually in ideas and suggestions.
I Am also an ASE certified technician.

Hey, we actually agree on something! ;) :lol2:

Now make it a requirement before people can submit "finished" maps. :D

I didn't think it was finished yet, and only the main interface was working ?

We've agreed on plenty. You have bad memory. :P

Not a bad idea, but it'd preclude pretty much every map in existence, besides like River, Pyramidal, and Startup2.

I regard a map with a HQ and two trucks as finished. But I like a game to be long and slow...

Btw, when will River_v2e and River_v2h get approved?

I'm still not sure if they'll ever be. Having multiple maps with the only difference being the amount of oil is a bad thing. The new power settings in 3.0 should render that obsolete.

The amount of oil isn't the only difference.
River_v2e and River_v2h have both changes in terrain, a completely different placement of features and different scavenger and player bases.

I don't think it's a good idea to release minor variations on the same map, though. It kind of spams up the addons page. If you think they're different enough, try giving them different names?

Second that! ;) Too much similarity in the maps is not good for MP games. When new players get into MP and they get 3 times the same map after each other with only slight changes, could make them go away again... :)
