Post by Devil12 »

I have just Downloaded some maps and want to try them.
I already placed the files in the Warzone 2100 dir where the savegames also are.

Are this maps for the resurrection version (ending on *.wz) or maps for the retail game (ending on *.wdg)?
The last ones won't work with the resurrected version until the author converts them.

Also, i think you must put them at "\Warzone 2100\multiplay\custommaps"
We all have the same heaven, but not the same horizon.

There aren't any .wz or .wdg files in them, so they won't work, right?

Now I downloaded a map with a .wz and an .addon.lev file.
Where do I have to put these files?

* In your WZ2100 Folder you have a "Map" folder - put both files in there.

It still don't work.
The map is shown in the Map Select screen, but when I try to start, it crashes. (Runtime error)
Does it have anything to do with the Version of Warzone? (I have 2.1)

Not all 2.0 stuff is compatible with 2.1.
Can you give me a copy of the map?

Slight correction, you don't need both files in there.

If you made it with the 32bit editor, then you need JUST the .wz file, since it has the *.addon.lev file already in it.

And to fix the older ones, then you must change from windows "/" to linux style "" for paths, and also, everything must be lower case, which wasn't fixed.  The hacked version already changes "/" to "" for you though, you just have to convert all the filenames to lower case.
and it ends here.

* Well, I don't know how helpful this will be....

* I downloaded the files and threw 'em both in the map folder... I ran it no probs....just fine.

* However.... the last iteration I have on my comp is v.2.05 RC1 (and NO, I'm not updating at this time)

* So...

* BTW... the Map itself is very interesting... though I think the oil resources are too scant and the multitude of choke-points will cause problems 'cause they're basically 2-3 tiles wide... should be 5 for a few reasons i'm too lazy to ghet into now.

Did you do what I said?

If so, what is the crash message, and what is in stderr.txt & stdout.txt (if on windows) or output in terminal if on linux.
and it ends here.

You mean the fixes?
I don't know what you mean by ""/" to "\"", but I made an very simple map for test whit the 32bit editor, and it didn't worked, too.
What do you mean with "lower case".
Does the Name of the map have to be for example: "test1" instead of "Test1"?
The Crash message is:

Title: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libary
Text: Rintime Error!
        Program: C:\Programme\Warzone 2100\Warzone2100exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information

The Crash message is:
format 1) path\directory\filename.exe.
format 2)  path/directory/filename.exe

In the addon.lev file, all file names should be using format #2.

Now *all* filenames must be lower case in the .wz file.
That means all the files it generated and stuck in the .wz files need to all be lower case.
Of course, they must match what is written in the *.lev file also.
and it ends here.

You either make them, or you convert them *correctly*.
and it ends here.
