That is important why?
The topic is author names added to the front of the actual map name.
True that most start with "M" but that’s not the issue being discussed
I see no point in adding the author name to the front of map names, as you can search addons by author anyway.

You just avoid duplicate map names when you put your name in front of it. This way there can be a Mero-Squared and a BH-Squared. That's all :)

this is why I made the topic in the first place
there is no good way to filter the stupid maps if they all start with M and the only reason they do that is they are vain as was mentioned.
there should be a standard for map names and everyone should follow!

players-mapname.wz
or if they are still vain
players-mapname-[author].wz but this practice should be banned! it has no purpose! we already know who made the map and that information is in the map as well!
DEVS NEED TO PUT THERE FOOT DOWN ON THIS!

All names comes inside one sequence. It is easy to scroll it. :)
There is filters in addon section. Is it enough?
wz3.1 map selector is not good. I can`t help you with it.

I sill has felling that trouble not with name in map but whois name in map.

  • The in-game interface is limited, as has been mentioned numerous times.
  • There is a hard limit on the amount of characters you can see for each map.
  • It is pretty obvious that if you have maps that all start with the same sequence of characters then trying to find a certain map gets to be very tedious.
Is there a fix for this ? Sure, either don't download the map(s) in question, or the map author could use a bit of common sense and put tags after the map name.

As for requiring a standard for naming, we are still thinking about it. :hmm:

Ok, author names shall hereafter never be added to map names. All maps must be named following the new official convention:
<players>-<author's favourite colour>-<author's favourite number>-[mapname].wz, where [mapname] is optional.

Now you have me responding.
...removed...
stop the personal attacks/innuendo

Staff Sir, please tell me so from not on I am to put my disgraced semi nickname at the end of a map yes? And is that necessarily? Shall I used it since the next creation of mine already if necessary?

Reason: removed flamebait.

Why must these threads turn personal. :annoyed:
There is no way you know what motivates someone to say/do something. While you may think that is the reason, that is no excuse to engage in flame wars.
This isn't pointed to any individual per se, but all the actors are in this thread. :annoyed:
Stop it now.

Let me show you with pictures, since some of you seem to not understand the issue at hand.

Now, do you see the problem ?
Why take up valuable space when there is no need to ?

If people would only read the reasons, I think it is pretty self-explanatory.

Locking thread for now.
