does the trunk over write the previously installed version of warzone? i ran it and installed warzone again(looked like v2.1) and i am running 2.2.1 . will it over write that version?

That said, I know we're updating it, but I just don't think a major graphical conversion is quite necessary.

There's something charming about the way everything is styled. I've come to love the baseplates on structures, the big red R on the research center, and the tile-by-tile design...

i am no designer, but i think all of that is staying, ask Zarel he would know. things like the ability to run in 1280x1024 is one major thing that i really really liked. but as i said ask one of the developers what is going to change. and it is also up to you to download the newer versions, no one is making you download and install them

If the gameplay stays as it is I'm following.

Doesn't mean I'll love the visuals though...

Being lazy on the textures again, I see. ;)

Why would I know? :| I'd prefer for Warzone's graphics to stay mostly the same, just higher quality, but other developers think otherwise.

we all have our foibles.
having the old gfx/renderer transferred to something like a 'classic wz' mod could be fun for those trips down memory lane.

however, keeping the game relevant to current gamers means it will need to improve visually to maintain appeal.

I said "higher quality". That means the same thing "improve visually".

I just want them to "improve visually", that's fine. What I don't want is for their appearance to change drastically.

with the units & structs, that could be done to a good extent i believe.
but the terrain really does need some not so TLC.

Why not roll in the old texturer and buildings as an optional download? I think that it won't take a whole lot of maintenance to keep it compattible - or am i mistaken?

Of course - newer is cool for default core ^_^

Neither would I, but apparently it would indeed take a lot of maintenance that no one wants to bother. :/
