Re: My maps (feli)

Just updated the two rainforest's like I promised.
Re-download them :)

I want to share this new map, my attempt to recreate.... HELL
Consider this a beta, I really don't like the lava-water going uphill.
I don't know if there is a solution for this or I have to make maps suited for this "feature".
The better thing would be to make the water effect always go downhill (!?!?).
scrshot_hell.jpg
I used (and modified) the crystals made by NoQ inside the volcano mod.

It's 4 players 64x64 (you asked for little maps ? :) ), 8 oil x player but all in the middle and accessible only by transport.
Letting enemies get close to your derricks may be fatal.
The player numbers are that way because allies are one in front of the other.
IMHO it's funny, but every comment/hint/tip/appreciation/insult  here is really appreciated.
Playability ? Graphical problems ?

Enjoy your slice of HELL

Will try Hell shortly, screenshot looks awesome!

...But just noticed a bug on rainforest 6 player map - there's a scavenger oil derrick in the cluster of derricks near Player Slot 1. Also, there's a derrick that's in the water there, and some that appear to be slightly below ground level.

Thx for reporting aubergine, my mistake.
Corrected the oil and (maybe) the rest, re-download the new version.

Here come the new map, as requested.
4 players, 92x92, rainforest textures and palms, 4 oil x base + 8 outside base + 8 owned by scavs (8 x player total).

I didn't put lot of vegetation because the AI's don't destroy trees and go build structures in weird places :)

I tried to stay small at my limits. But NoQ froozen you mention is 128x128 !

Hope you enjoy. XD

Thanks so much for the compliments.

I updated 6c-RainForest again, found some minor things....

Aubergine: yes I saw it, I took the crystals from that mod.
The general look of volcanic is too "gray" for my taste. :D
I wanted a "hot lava" look and feel.

I've been playing rainforest for the past few days and one thing I notice is that Nullbot won't shoot the trees to get to the oils on the mountains.

Would it be worth updating the mountain forests so that there is a path to each of the oils, but it's blocked by a single tree at the edge of the mountain? Because battles will happen around the edges in early game, those trees would likely get destroyed and the Nullbots will be able to build derricks on them.

I will give latest version a try now, and also the other new maps :)

I was thinking about this a long time and finally decided to close the way to the derricks with destroyable trees.
But your idea probably is even better.
I'll do that.

I just noticed the cheat code that enable the rain, A W E S O M E !!! I want it enabled by default in my "forest" maps !!!!

Enable it when you going to play AuberForest XD XD XD

So are you going to try to let it rain by default in rainforest?

I don't understand very well the first option you are talking about :hmm: :hmm:
I'm going to re-read the FM

Can you take a look at the skarab maps ?
I painted those with the cliff brush, did I make some mistakes there ?
Yeah, much closer.
You'd probably like to read the tips, since you're already grown up (: they are mostly for 2.3 map making, but since it's much easier to make a correct 2.3-style map than to make a 3.1-style map with FlaME, you'd probably still find them useful.

P.S. Don't worry, removing cliff decals is quite a natural way to go for 3.1-style maps; they look good only iff they looked well in 2.3 (iff they followed the tradition defined by campaign/original maps), but you don't really seem to want that on your maps.
the crystals made by NoQ
They were made by Berg, who also did most of the new models for scav mods; i'm not making any models yet.
So are you going to try to let it rain by default in rainforest?
Currently impossible, i think.

Nice maps :) and the terrain is awesome.

It would look good, but it would be weird to see hovers going over lava :P

Hello feli :)

I would also like to say that I like the Rainforest map very much too :3 It also gives me some inspiration :3

As NoQ said, do not hesitate to try various FlaMe option. Experiment with them, check them out. It seems that once you will get to know them you will make a very good use of them.
