I can not tell if it happens on certain maps because it happened the first and only time on this map! (have to do some more tests). I did view my screen-recording and I think the pause occures every six seconds maybe. Can not tell it more precise. :-/ Maybe it would be possible to put that routine into a seperate thread, so the CPU can work on it simoutaniously?

No.
The reason is that the scripts work with copies of game objects (and there is a good reason for that too). These copies may get outdated if used in a different game frame. So even if the computation done in the script can be parallelized, the script can't run in background of the game itself. Each event needs to get handled before the game can advance further.

themac wrote:On some maps WZ pauses every 5 seconds for 1 second. That means everything stops for a moment. The animation, the timer, the fps counter, everything. A second later everything goes on as normal, but five seconds later the same strange pause happens. I don´t know how to make a bug report for such a strange "bug". O.o
never have seen it pause like that the only problem now is that nullbot is using huge amounts of ram for no reason that I can tell

Well, the RAM is part of your computer. Sometimes people think that free RAM is "good" RAM, and used RAM is "bad RAM". But that is not true. The best way to speed up things in a computing system is to put as much as possinle into RAM, because the RAM is faster than most other data storing components, especially faster than harddisk drives!

It uses several GB of RAM? O.o That sounds strange to me indeed. I did play again but using Nexus AI and Scavangers. No pauses at all.

themac, PM dak180 and tell him to update Qt to the lastest version available, perhaps that will fix your issues.

The currently used Qt version in the mac builds is the latest available that is compatible with our current hardware / os support.

And since I did not have these issues the last time I played a 3+ hour game I highly doubt that anything in the stock game is responsible.

Everything seems to be okay when I turn off the scavangers on that map!

Ok, even though i must admit that this map runs very slowly on my pc with scavengers, i didn't notice any serious "singular" hangs in nullbot v1.31 on this map (at start of the game T1/adv.bases scavengers on). Could you check if the problem is fixed in v1.31?

Well, this map runs a bit "slowly" on my super Macintosh too. Especially the scrolling over the map looks very choppy even if the fps counter tells > 100 fps. The latest NullBot AI is playing for 25 minutes now. The pause issue seems to be gone. Edit: The choppy scrolling suddenly disappeared at some point. Don´t know why! :-)

choppy scrolling
That's pretty much the same thing, just on a smaller scale (more shorter hangs).
Not sure why it disappeared, probably some big bunch of scavengers was destroyed? (:
