You have the same problem.

Crappy intel drivers.

As I posted in his thread, there is nothing we can do to fix intel driver issues. Intel must fix their own drivers. File a bug report with them.

You may want to try to lower the texture size down to 32, and see if that helps...
and it ends here.

If you do buy a new machine, please don't get one with intel integrated gfx chipset, or S3/VIA.
and it ends here.

Well now, Intel Crappy Drivers...

Post by gfolkert »

Not that I am arguing... just that here is my setup.

Debian Sid on a Stinkpad T61 with the Intel Chipset... specifically:

Code: Select all

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
And to wit the "drivers"

Code: Select all

ii xorg 1:7.4+3 X.Org X Window System
ii xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3 the X.Org X server
ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.6.1.901-3 Xorg X server - core server
ii xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.1-1 X.Org X server -- Intel i8xx, i9xx display driver
The version of various pieces installed

Code: Select all

ii warzone2100 2.1.3-1 3D real time strategy game
ii warzone2100-data 2.1.3-1 data files for warzone2100
ii warzone2100-music 2.1.3-1 official music for warzone2100
ii linux-image-2.6.29-2-686-bigmem 2.6.29-5 Linux 2.6.29 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/PIII/P4
So, you are saying this is pervasive in the Intel Driver? Exactly what is the issue? Can I help? What do you need from me to help out on this issue?

The only reason I am asking is that Intel has made HUGE strides in making Linux (and *BSDs) drivers more open and better than ever before and are significantly better than the efforts they are doing for Windows.

Indeed. Warzone works on Windows systems with ATI/nvidia cards, Linux systems with ATI/nvidia cards and Mac OS X systems with ATI/Linux/nvidia cards (although there is a bug in 10.5.7s nvidia drivers). Furthermore, it also works — albeit slowly — in software mode. These are many different platforms with vastly different graphics architectures.

We are an open source game. Please point those working on the Intel drivers to Warzone. It would not be hard for them to test the game and then further investigate the problem.

Regards, Freddie.

It also works in Mac OS X with Intel cards.

And it crashes a lot in many Windows/nVidia configurations.
