Cut Scene Missing Audio

Post by MaNiac »

Ive noticed that sometimes on the cutscences there wouldn't be any audio, it would just show the video. However, say there's 3 parts to a scene before the mission, the most likely part that would me missing the audio would be part 2 and the audio returns for part 3.

Now because it mostly happens quite randomly I can't pinpoint any scene(s) in particular.

Well, if you ever find a way to reproduce it...

I tend to think this would be a audio driver issue, since I have never seen/heard of this before.

I can play all the vids back to back, without issue.
and it ends here.

I wish it was sound drivers but I just can't see it being that. I don't have any other problems with sound and like I said it doesn't do it for every scene, just randomly. Like If I restarted the game and played the same scene, I would have sound back for the same scene it previously didn't play for.

I've fairly recently installed windows for my machine and I've only got the correct ones for my sound card, no on-board drivers or anything else that could be conflicting.

It is not a driver issue as it happens on my amd64 Linux system as well (emu10k1 alsa module). The first video message from the New Paradigm (sub13np1, I believe) has no audio in game but sounds fine in MPlayer.

There are generic OpenAL warnings about buffer's not being deleted, so perhaps the audio buffer is the issue.

I guess it is possible that we have used too many sources by then...

It's possible, but I can't seem to get a helpful error message out of it.

I'm having this problem to. I start a new mission briefing and it skips the audio for the next part but then it returns for the part after that.

What specs should I post? I have mentioned them in the spec thread.

Can you guys try again with --debug sound --debugfile sound.txt

I also get it. I have windows vista home premium. Randomly I get no audio. I posted a thread about this in the version specific forum.
