Ok, hold off getting another version, until I can get some patches submitted.
Should give a bit more info on what is going on.

Thanks for testing.

I'll let you know when to try the next version.
and it ends here.

Cliff, if you can, get at least version 5123 (debug version) and do --debug 3d again.

That is, when it gets updated to at least that version.

Thanks.

Looks like it's up there right now, so I'll grab it and have the log for you tomorrow.

Got it for you. Looks like either my card or the drivers don't support OpenGL versions above 1.2, assuming wz2100 uses features in those. I'm guessing that since my drivers are 7 years old (but still the most recent according to ATI's site) they don't have support for the newer OpenGL versions. Any ideas?

Seven years? Well if ATI havent updated the drivers in that time then its a good bet that they wont any time soon. (like in the next 10,000 years or so.)

I guess your best bet would be to either try to find some 3rd party driver that adds the necessary support, or buy a slightly newer graphics card.
If you go the new card route then Its not hard to find something that will do the job at a very affordable price, something like an old 64 MB Geforce4 MX 440 AGP card will go for between £5 to £10 on ebay (plus shipping), and will be a vast improvement over your ATI Rage 128. (not because its ATI vs NVIDIA, but because the Rage 128 was meant to compete with the NVIDIA RIVA TNT, 3dfx Voodoo 3 and MATROX G200/G400).
While the GF4 MX 440 still only supports OpenGL 1.2, its raw speed is much much faster, and the drivers are much more recent (last release was NVIDIA ForceWare version 93.71 dated 2nd Nov 2006.)

I am not quite sure which call we use that is >openGL 1.2, but I will check.

Of course, the best thing is to get a new gfx card, something made in the last couple of years would be best.
You can get some pretty high end cards for under $100.  I even saw some 8800 cards going for $40(AR), but I assume you need AGP.
That is a bit tougher to find.
If you go that route, then please check here first before buying, and we can check which version of openGL (and DX for that matter) it supports.
and it ends here.

Hmm... APG cards can be a bit hard to find these days...

...just maybe...

*Verminus digs around in his odd bits and spares box*

Ah ha!! Found some APG cards:
  • GeForce 2 MX-400 w/ 64MB from 3dPower
  • GeForce FX 5700 w/ 256MB from BFG Tech.
  • GeForce 6800 GT w/ 256MB from XFX
  • GeForce 6800 XT w/ 512MB from XFX
No wonder no one can find any APG cards, there all sitting in my bedroom collecting dust! :o
I should probably think about selling some of these some day...

or at least putting them in a system, I got enough bits lying round here to build at least 2 full computers...

Lol.  You do have a assortment of cards, I am sure people on fleabay would love em!  ;D

Cliff, I don't see any call we are doing that is specific to 1.3, so going to try something else.
Can you get this program: http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview/download.html
And then do the render tests (all)?
Then after that, goto Report, and it will show something like: (scroll down a bit)
Core features
v1.1 (100 % - 7/7)
v1.2 (100 % - 8/8)
v1.3 (100 % - 9/9)
v1.4 (100 % - 15/15)
v1.5 (100 % - 3/3)
v2.0 (100 % - 10/10)
v2.1 (100 % - 3/3)

Just highlite that area, and hit ctrl-c to copy to clipboard, then you can paste that info here via ctrl-v.
and it ends here.

Sure, I've got it downloaded to a flash drive and I'll have the results tomorrow. About the card, yes, it's about 8 or 9 years old and now unsupported by ATI because it's so old. What I don't understand is why other people have the same slowness problem and have much more recent cards, which would most likely support newer OpenGL versions.

For what it is worth, usually, if they are getting slow performance from this game, then it is either hardware don't support something, or that the drivers are not that good, and are falling back to software mode.  It can also be drivers installed wrong (Usually this is the case for linux people).

Other than that, any card that was made in the last 4 years should work fine for now.

Integrated gfx chipsets (intel & S3) seem to be the worst, everyone has issues with their rotten support.  At least it is getting a bit better, but still has a way to go to match what a dedicated gfx card can do.  For laptops, I would avoid 98% of them.
and it ends here.

Sure, I'll have that tomorrow. The huge text report I've got with me doesn't have it broken down into separate categories, so it wouldn't be helpful to post that.

Just take a screen shot when you expand everything.  That is good enough. :)
