macuser wrote:Thanks mangust :) because of those, I have done the whole thing now not just mapping the uvs but also the texture! Here is the final model and texture :geek: :!!!: However, just for the record: I hate blender.
Many people don't like blender because of the learning curve, the interface is quite different from other programs so you have to re-learn some stuff, but once you learn the hotkeys, modelling is nice and smooth.

I'm guessing that wouldn't count if you started learning WITH blender? or do you need prior experience if you don't want to screw your mind?

Roux; I use Blender, I was introduced into Modelling in 3D with Blender3D.
It works like a charm; not sure how well it translates to other 3D Engines though...
Only other 3DStudio/Engine I've used is Google SketchUp, that one was a real mess in my opinion...

I've used sketchup also and I thought it was very fast and easy to get started with, but also very limited. The modeling is best suited for quick concepts and architechtural design. Blender is a lot more advanced and it's therefore easy to get lost with in the beginning, however it gives you absolute control over the mesh structure and shading, allowing you to create models that are perfectly optimised.
