Hey Jorzi, I don't know if you thought of this yourself already but anyway: The "base plate" on the bottom of the barrel on which the shock absorbers rest would have to be a ring through which the barrel can travel during recoil. If it was a massive plate, the barrel could not move relative to the shock absorbers since both the absorbers and the barrel would be fixed to the same element.

Thanks guys :)
I've thought about barrel recoil and came to the conclusion that the recoil will propably be short enough to fit inside the frame. It's a relatively low-impulse weapon anyway (compared to a howizer or a cannon).

Some updates, finally got a pretty good uv layout to it, pretty much finished with the details.
Texture size 512, will be resized to 256...

Thus far it's 100% blender 2.49 (blender 2.5 is better and has more features but I'm more used to the old 2.49 and it is still more stable than 2.5) I will use GIMP to remove some artifacts from the texture and also for painting colors and decals in the future.
Both are free and opensource and you can easily find them by googling their names.

It's the base texture without tcmask, so I guess this is what the grey player will look like ingame

Olrox wrote:Off-topic enough, I hope that marsbound can manage to produce some good textures (hopefully my humble guide will help a bit), and/or that someone with awesome skills emerge from the shadows to aid AR on it's quest. Probably later I'll be able to provide textures with some technical quality (I never spent time learning the right way to make them, it was all about intuitive, innocent creativity).
I'll certainly take a look at the texturing process and see if I can come up with anything. Thanks for the guide, Olrox.

what happened with green tone? and why it's green but heavy tracks are grey? :-) I think it's green just for a presentation?
