Adjustable Max Unit Limit

More than often, I get stuck with the "Control Limit Reached" message, and I just figured wouldn't it be nice if players could adjust the maximum number of units just before hosting a game? Not only will this please the people who feel like the game doesn't allow enough units, but it also provides an interesting challenge for players who want to try and maintain a lower limit to give their units more value. My suggestion for the range will be anywhere from 10-500. It will be responsibility of the player to pick a reasonable limit.

What I had in mind in just how this can be done is a box on the game setup screen, where players pick teams, AIs, etc, that allows the host to enter the amount of units the game will limit every player to. Some players can handle 200 tanks with ease, while others are more skilled at micromanaging a small army like 25 or 50.

I like this idea!

One way to implement it might be to add a "Droids" slider to the Structure Limits panel. This would mean that limits on droids are set in the same way and place as all other limits, and it would also mean that scripts could set the limit - eg. a Challenge map could have a custom rules.js that uses the setStructureLimits() function to impose different droid limits on different factions in the challenge.

If you have the cpu power to handle the units, why wouldn't you?

For me the interest is the ability to reduce current limits, forcing players to rethink strategies around smaller numbers of units...

while on the subject why not adjustable structure limits (for those not already limited).

All structures can already be limited by JS API, but I think the issue is that the UI for changing limits on game setup is a bit clumsy. I've seen some mods that let you change limits for loads of different structures so it's do-able.
