Bridges?
It would be nice to be able to build and destroy bridges. perhaps land and sea ones to link islands and be able to go under.

My knowledge about programing is not to high. Don't know how the map are made in this game. Only 2D map with hight values ? Or more like 3D ?
If it is 3D, then a bridge is probably easy to make. And from there maybe even caves is possible, or why not mine digging. Hole underground base complex. The intro storry of the game start with man finding an underground military base, why knot go back to the base story ?

On the way it does look like, seems like 2D with heights... just look at some "bridges" in some maps, they simply are more terrain with road texturing.

I think bridges wouldn't make much sense because you have hover propulsion (yes I know well enough about the disadvantages it has but if you micromanage you can mitigate that), VToL's and of course the Super Transport (skirmish) in 3.1 beta.
Though bridge building WOULD put edge this game closer to Earth 2150 status. As in that game you could construct narrow or wide bridges, as well as manipulate the terrain during gameplay. (trench warfare and the like)

The terrain is an 8-bit height map with features and other 3d models on it. Making a bridge feature would be trivial, but making droids travel on it would require some serious coding effort.

I dont know about building bridges, but bridges for map makers (to be able to cross 2 path without encounter) would be an enormous benefit for map design.
Heretic 2.3 improver and proud of it.

I'd love bridges, especially if they could be constructed by trucks. Imagine building a bridge over a gorge or river... Not sure how it would work in terms of gameplay, but it would certainly be über-cool.

I've not heard of anybody planning to add bridges for 3.2. But maybe something has passed me by.

That was a "if someone does that, we'll probably add it" list; as long as an idea is not supported by actual code it stays an idea (same for ships, btw). Only once something is in master, you can be reasonably sure it'll be in the next major release (if it works well).
