Designing cyborgs like vehicles

Post by Emdek »

Maybe it was already suggested but I've not found such topic.
Currently we can design tanks and VTOLs, structures designing is planned / work in progress / something else so why we couldn't have option to design cyborgs, instead researching every type of them?

hm, it would definitely make the cyborg production dialogue much less cluttered with outdated stuff

I think there is not much to Design, only legs & weapon. I think this is not for current engine.

Yes, and that would require tons of new models...

Cyborgs are nice as they are now.

What are you going to design on them?
There are only 2 types of cyborg propulsion... Doesn't make much sense...

Actually, there is only 1 type of cyborg propulsion, but two separate bodies. That being said, I've wanted something like this, not so much to design cyborgs per se, but so that I can get the data on cyborgs in game that you can get on other vehicles in the design screen. The ability to keep the cyborg production menu simplified is just a bonus.

It's meant to remove need for researching them all, this is like researching tower or hardpoint for every turret, not really normal research that gives something really new.

Why needs new models?

Perhaps because there aren't many cyborg parts?

I would love to see more specialized functions on cyborgs, similar to those of certain Starcraft units like ghosts and templars. That would make them more like special forces, rather than massed infantry, but that would only be a good thing, IMHO.

Of another draft, currently if cyborg is destroyed then it's experience is lost, right?
But as far as I remember cyborgs are controlled by humans in immersion tanks, right?
Then maybe experience of lost units could be given to new ones (or operator dies with it's artificial body?)?
I'm not using cyborgs at all, so I'm not sure how big balancing issues it could create, but maybe making cyborgs a bit more expensive or / and give them less HP would make it?

Nah, I think it's good like it is.

Anyway, think about it... The people in inmersion tanks would have to get used to their new unit, so the experience is lost...

OK, can be justified this way.
Anyway, I think that cyborgs need a bit more advantages.

Please explain haw you play with developed cyborgs, and haw much fun can be with them. :lol2:
I usually play with tracked propulsion units so I can catch them. 8)
