3 section/catagory build menu

at the moment its [ - ] [ - ] [ - ] [ - ] 4 pages on one tier, which gets full real quick.
even on high res when more pages/tabs could be used, it doesnt.

id like there to be 3 options above this, each with their own pages.
option 1; all base structures,(and whatever doesnt go in the other 2)
option 2; tall defences - all towers,  hard-points, fortresses. etc.
option 3; short defences - all bunkers & emplacments.
though a have a feeling you need to rip the code apart for that...


also, (probably simpler) trucks will assist other trucks/repair damaged buildings on its route when set to patrol your base.

In the current SVN version you have the ability to 'scroll' left and right.
also, (probably simpler) trucks will assist other trucks/repair damaged buildings on its route when set to patrol your base.
Warzone has had this (IIRC) since 1.10.

scrolling is good :) though i can imagine it may get annoying looking for "x" emplacement quickly. TA was the same when you got to 5 or 6 pages of stuff i one build menu.

has the design template munu allow scrolling too?

when i set a truck to patrol across my base defences it ignored damaged structures, well, except when trying to drive through/past them.
*checks again* yup, still doin it.
*does test* seem to assist other trucks as you say though, but that still leaves you micro managing trucks.

I got an idea when reading through the `happy new year` topic....
maybe we could add quick radio commands:

-I´ll make you cold for that!(to all enemies)

-If this land becomes unsellable, I Sue you!(to enemies)

-I´m running low on Power!(to allies)

-I´m under Heavy attack!(to allies)

-*evil laughter*

-*all building fire´s off fireworks*(costs some power so you can show to everyone you have much power(at least you pretend ou have :p ))

maybe if there will come some fractions(scavnger,the collective, the project, Nexus) they all have there own radio keys...

and for radio spammers, you can use radio commands not more than once per 30 seconds, or they all cost power or so...

i hope you guys like that:D

those kind of things as generic unit taunts are what make me turn the speakers off in C&C.

communication to allies can be done already can it not? using the t key?

how about voice communication between players in skirmish? has that/could it be done?
although how many actually have a mic in some form to use the feature....?

Warzone did used to have such a feature back in the 1.10 days. Sadly it was non-portable and not particularly useful, so it was removed.

There was some talk on IRC about bringing it back however it was (for the most part) agreed that there is no way we could compete with VoIP applications, such as Skype and Teamspeak.

So it is possible, and I know exactly how I would do it, but it really is reinventing the wheel. Must have been quite cool back in 1999 though (although only really useful over LAN).

lol i always like the taunts(especially the animated one, not the radio command neccesairly) of RAII YR which could be replaced by the fireworks...which is still in the game....


and i have another question: is it possible to make cliff formations which can overleap? i mean that tunnels can be made or so?

i doubt it at the moment, if you look straight down on the map, its a perfect grid of tiles, its just that they are stretched vertically.
a tunnel, or even a cliff over-hang, would need you to have multiple overlapping tiles. so they would probably need to scrap & re-do the whole map system.
iv also noticed, wz maps never have bridges.

* Set aside "Tiles" for a spell.

* Focus on Map "Features" & how they work. (You'd be suprised at what can be done from this angle of attack.)

Pumpkin actually planned on adding bridges, and there is some code in the source code release related to bridges (src/bridge.c), but it looks like it never made it into the game, as the opening comment in this file suggests:
Alex McLean, Pumpkin Studios EIDOS Interactive, 1998.
Handles rendering and placement of bridging sections for
traversing water and ravines?! My guess is this won't make it into
the final game, but we'll see...
Having bridges in the game would awesome, so someone just has to finish that code some day.  8)

so far as i know, they are a pain in the ass to get working due to collision detect.
thats why i guessed they weren't there.

what about adding a pontoon tank turret to the systems menu?

i still want to be able to tell defences where to shoot.

random question thats not worth a thread;
does wz support scaling?(more poly's when zoomed in) it doesnt seem to do this on my comp
if so, how far does it, and could it go.

if it isnt i think it should be added, as i think it could allow WZ a further GFX boost.

what exctly a pontoon tank turret is?
