Teleporters
Trucks and combat engineers should be able to build an object that allows a friendly unit to move to another area immediately. Using teleporters would strengthen reinforcements (backup allies) because they would have the ability to attack quickly instead of having to drive and/or walk to the destination.
Specific vehicles and cyborgs should be able to teleport. Teleportation is useful if there is a research artifact that has not been taken and if an enemy is close to it. Also, a teleportation unit can see more of the minimap by going to a dark, unexplored area.

Why not just use transports?

Speedy made a very complex mod called "AI Boost" about 10 years ago that included teleports among many other nifty new toys. Lot of fun, very creative. As an Addon it was great. Part of the core game - don't think so. Transports should remain stock, IMO.

In the future, teleporting should only work within the current map and cannot be used to arrive to another area. Well, gameplay on several maps at a time is only available in campaign. And, as you might have noticed, campaign will not be changed (we need to keep it close to the original).

How about this little reductio ad absurdum scenario. The heck with teleporting units.... big waste. Just teleport bombs. Really streamline gameplay. Or better yet, use a teleport tech beam to transport your enemies forces to the bottom of the ocean. What an astonishing concept.

By the way, there's nothing wrong with teleporters.

Yeah they work fine in a lot of games..... even in WZ as a mod. Core game, not so much. Unless it's core WZ 2250 werein Nexus and The Project join forces to fight off a reptiloid alien invasion from Tao Ceti bent on wiping out humanity and its tech creations off the face of the Earth to hack the planet into one gigantic, sweltering, Amazion jungle fully stocked with tasty critters for the aliens to hunt and feed on. Early on the aliens determined that humans just didn't taste good.
