NoQ you are experienced player, you are champion :)
but for begginers and for medium players map preview does not say anything
(they do not know red color is cliff etc.)

also in most cases you need to know exact location of oil resources.
fail with oil = you lose.

I always have lots of trouble remembering where oil is, even on maps I've played a few times. Once I start to remember where the oils are, it's much easier, but on new maps I'm generally pants at finding the stuff.

I did a standard factory-lab-cc-factory-factory. I believe that we had almost equal number of tanks, but my early-game advantage was due to combat micromanagement: i concentrated fire and covered damaged tanks better than you did. When you had tmg first (due to an early lab, as i now see), i already got a chance to fall back (since you were scared), and keep up with timing, having ~10 mg wheels tanks mostly at red but still alive (this looks scary, cause you won't right-click all tanks to know they're all damaged).

Then, i managed to transition from rush more effectively, by getting the second lab (probably much earlier) and teching to halftracks. I got halftracks together with tmg. But it was already unnecessary.

I had around 300 bonus money at the end, failing to use it up, even when i had my 5 factories.

As for the seconds, i took quite some seconds for me to type the "uhm i shouldve choosen #3" or something like that before issuing my first order.

All four starting trucks:

1. Research Facility - as soon as finished res mg, I did this all the way to twin mg
2. Command Center - design viper-wheels-mg
3. Build 4 factories - each outputting the combat units I designed above

After this trucks split into two groups of two.

2 trucks on building power gens
2 trucks on building derricks

.....................

Just to add, that build order I use on Atom, will always beat a new player and has 99% of the time beaten experienced players. This is only the second time I have lost, the first being to Fenris? hmmm can't remember the name. So NoQ, if he has not used that map extensively, has an excellent situational adaptation.
Rommel, game on Atom? :)
i've played this map several times.

Command center should be build after 1-2 factories, but on Atom map you need Command Center to open Machinegun tower.
If you build Command center as second building on NTW or on low oil map you had doing very wrong

No, i haven't played this map before.
situational adaptation.
The only adaptation it took was figuring out the map size. Something like "uhm it's so small, let's try something rushy". Then probably "uhm, so much oil, i need to get more factories and labs soon". This map was quite trivial, flat thing without any terrain, not much to adapt to.

Aubergine and that is why I give, and I will do so as long as it will be possible, 2.3.9 previews

I still think oil locations should not be on the previews. I know it is to make it easier for beginners, but I think learning the location will make them come back to the map at least one time.

I think we should make it harder, make people think. If one resigns, then he was too weak ;)

Or the previews should be optional. I think I will make separate thread :hmm:

At the same time I am sorry for some vast discussions here.

I personally felt that perhaps it would be more fair if the locations of oils (though not necessarily whether or not enemy players have derricks built on top of them) were made visible throughout the entire match, even if under fog-of-war, so for Contingency, I tried to make the Oil Resources visible on map start. (By the way, Contingency allows players to build up to 10 factories (though with glitches) and research labs for an experience that's closer to NTW's level of excitement, though with the strategic depth of standard low-oil Warzone 2100 gameplay.)

For me when I see the oil placememnt disappear from radar, I know enemy is, was at that place, or where is he heading. I also know that for example I will not appear there with my wheel mahinegun bugs, so maybe he will not know I am still so weak.

also those doths flashing all the time are disturbing ;)
