Anyone know what these "+" symbols mean on research items?

The research are ordered by left icon > right icon > order in research so it's a convenient way to control where the research will fall in the list.

The "+" mean that a game developer judged nice to have a "+" there. Probably meant to be "upgrade" ?

It is just a visual symbol. I think it means "important".

So how come I see more of them when I'm playing with allies than I do during FFA?

Normally I only see the "+" signs on things like EMP. But recently, allied with nullbot against a bunch of cheating nexus, I'm seeing lots more "+" signs than usual.

could be because you are assisting your allies with technology and the game is letting you know that it is important to research just about everything. lol

That image is called "IMAGE_RES_GRPUPG" and it's a GRouP UPGrade !

It is linked to the research and never change. Maybe nullbot dont like to upgrade but like to unlock many upgradable things ?

clarify this for me please: so the plus signs indicate that it upgrades you and your allies, otherwise technologies without the sign you have to do on your own.

Anyone know where the code is that displays those "+" signs so I can do some digging to see what they really mean?

 here is an idea! Maybe this could be implemented into the guide for further use by other people. Should take this to suggestions.

IIRC they are just defined in the data files. The code just displays them as defined.
