i see so $295+10%{tax} $325 that makes more sense.
i don't know what the tax is were your at and or if you added it in.and ya i can make complete systems on paper for the $300 price point as well but their junk.
though using parts of that quality is well .you get what you pay-for .
my self i wont touch that kind of thing with a 10 foot pole.
you have to pay me to use that kind of hardware.
i hope your not still using the same no name brad psu that came with your case ? and i can get psu's with a 500watt sticker on em for like $10 us .probably less if you buy in bulk.but if you think its a 500watt and its not just that that really bad about $10 psu but anyways.some people don't care if their computer is unstable or dies after one year i guess.

btw its the switching transistors that pop in this video and a good psu has or should have a internal barker to turn the psu off if you try and over load it and or it over heats .
cheap ones don't and if they go Nuclear can start a fire \ burn your house down.
Corsair is over priced imho but that made a nice video that's more or less bang on topic.
i remember one review site the dude was a electronics guru and he would dismantle a psu in to little bits .
one of the places they like to get cheap on no name brand psu is the switching transistors .
there was this one no name brand psu with 10 amp switching transistors in it but on the outside the sticker was saying 20 amp.
what happens when you try and stuff 20 amps at a set voltage threw a part that was made at best to handle 10 amps.
i don't know. lets plug that 120 volt TV you have their in to a 220 volt outlet and see what happens
btw all ways nice to meet a old school computer user macuser .cheers

no name brand means -50% of rated power plus -2~3% for each year old the psu is minus some depending on ambient temp
