Low oil or high oil?

Post by WarTux »

I'm curious what maps the WZ community prefers: low oil or high oil? Post here with your preference, and skill level.

For the record, I prefer low oil, and I'd call myself an intermediate player.

This needs a poll.

Well, if there's an option to create a poll on this board, I can't find it. :stressed:

IMHO, games on maps with less oil last longer than high oil maps. And strategy skills are tested more with low oil. Whereas high oil maps are mostly just "Who can rush the opponent quicker". Like two variations of chess.

My personal preference is low oil. But the tactics perfected on one type of map definitely won't work on the other type. What do you think guys?

Wait, are polls restricted to moderators/administrators or something? :augh:

As of right now, yes. I think we allow contributors to create polls as well.

I'm a complete noob, and I prefer low oil for the simple reason that there is a variety of possible strats to go. You can go borgs, MGs, rockets, mixes, etc. Its not just rush rush rush rush rush rush rush.

Especially the Void between the ears of people who think that No VTOL is a good idea, and won't lead to arty wars. I've won one, and I have to say: I hated it.

That is why I prefer hi-oil! You are limited on low-oil, on hi-oil you can do whatever you want, whitout haveing to care for power! Although, you have to defend yourselves from rushes, but rush isn't the only option.

Can someone add another choice to the poll above, something like "depends"?

Really?

I think you're limited on high oil, since you have to do everything, or else you lose. In low oil, you get to choose what you do, which is a lot more fun.

Plus, in high oil, you spend all the game building generators and oil derricks and research facilities and factories, and keeping 5 research facilities and 10 factories running, and it's all boring since all you do is research and build tanks and attack people.

In low oil, you have like one or two factories, three research facilities, and most of your game is spent fighting for oil. It's a lot more fun that way, since it's not just building up a base over and over and over again.

You need another category for me to vote. "Both" There are times I prefer oil and times I prefer high oil maps. It all depends on my mood.

Then set up a new poll - with at least three choices...
