Running 2.2.4 & 2.3 - Can it be done?

Post by Endy »

Alright, I have a question and I consider it a good one. I have a working copy of WZ2100 2.2.4 on my laptop. I like it. It plays. I still have my weird little issues with the graphics, but then again, I'm running it on a 32MB card whose OpenGL support might not be considered "the best". And this comes to the reason I've come to dislike a lot of open-source projects - updates come the moment I get comfortable. Now, no one is holding a gun to my head, saying that I have to get 2.3, I know that.

But I'd like to know if, without running 2.2.4 from PortableApps.Com, I can have 2.2.4 and 2.3 installed happily side-by-side.

Thanks. I just need to remember to set the install directories differently this time around, so that this one goes into a Warzone 2100 2.3 directory, and it'll take care of things like saved games and such on its own, right?

It will use different data directories, with 2.3 and 2.2 suffixes.

2.2.4 is considered outdated by now it is around 6-7 months old and they are going to stop supporting MP for it so we don't have people split up. There is no reason to keep playing it unless you have a campaign you want to finish on it.
