If you have a stockpile of over 50K, you are really doing something very, very wrong.
You should also take Emdek's advice.
Or you are milking the ends of campaign stages for spare cash, since the campaign has 2 instances where you cash goes splat, and numerous times where overloading defenses, courtesy of stored cash, is very beneficial
.That said, The only time I think I ever passed 20K energy was the Gamma campaign, and passing 30K... well, MAYBE the last stage, due to it's lack of time limit and all.
