Any gamer here using a VR headset?

Calling all gamers!
I've been looking into getting a VR headset lately, and I'm stuck making a decision I don't fully know how to make. Do I go for an Oculus Rift or go all out and get the Valve Index?
I've looked at specs and numbers and tons of comparison guides (like this one) but I'm still not sure if the added goodies of the Index are worth shelling out so much extra for.
If anyone here has used either the Index or the Rift (or both), I'd love to hear what you recommend.
