which OperatingSystem are you using?

If it is a Windows-System take a look here: http://warzone.mortis.eu/nightly-builds/
These are nightly builds that already contain some bugfixes...

If it is a Linux-System, you might want to cosider compiling the game yourself...

For MacOS I am afraid I struggle myself to get it compiled, we talk about it
in the "MacUsers where are u guys" thread in the 2.1beta feedback Forum.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply. I'm using a recently-re-installed Windows XP Home Edition SP3.

On another note, I was at another computer and tried playing WZ2100B2R1...and it worked. Really weird.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

EDIT: Oh, crap. I have dial-up, so I can't get the nightly-builds. Thanks anyway, I'll see if a friend can help me get the build.

What kind of crashes are we talking about?
Game crashes, or system crashes?

What hardware you running the game on?

Game crashes, with the "Warzone crashed unexpectedly" messages.

I've uploaded a TXT file containing all my system information:
System Info.txt

EDIT: I put in a WarZone .mdmp in a ZIP file as well.

Try downloading the not-yet-officially-announced beta3 from http://download.gna.org/warzone/release ... _beta3.exe

Alright, downloaded 2.1 B3...and it still didn't work.

Didn't even appear with a "Warzone crashed unexpectedly" message this time around.

Can you try this, on the command line, enter:

warzone2100 --debug all

Then post your stdout.txt & stderr.txt files?

or if you are using a shorcut, add --debug all to the end of the target line, so it looks something like:
"c:/blahblah/blah/warzone2100.exe" --debug all

Per, do you know if http://download.gna.org/warzone/release ... _beta3.exe is a debug build or not? These really all should be.

That was the contents of my stderr.txt file...there was nothing in the stdout.txt file.

EDIT: Also, the sound doesn't work...even with OpenAL installed correctly (2.1 only). The rewrites to the source really must've screwed compatibility with my PC somehow.

Lets see... a SIS gfx chipset in your machine? That is problem #1. They have pretty poor openGL video drivers. They are about as bad, if not worse than Intel gfx chipset openGL video drivers. You can try newer or older video drivers, and see if it works then. You may also try to change the texture size to 64, and see if that helps.

For the sound, nothing in the codebase has change for the sound that I recall, in a very long time.

I guess that is a driver issue also. Can you try newer/older C-Media AC97 Audio drivers?

1998 called, they want their graphics card back.

Did 2.0.x work at all on your system?

Regards, Freddie.

I don't exactly know what video/audio drivers I have, I'll try and see if I can update them. Texture size on 64 didn't work, FYI.

Also, EvilGuru, every version from 0.2.3 to 2.0.10 worked perfectly, not a single crash. And I got my computer back in 2003, I think it was...

I'll be on tomorrow with updated drivers so I can give you my results...and get FireFox 3 at the same time.

EDIT: And Kamaze, wherever you are, I couldn't remember how to put a quote box in...(see my last post, confused people)

Boy, that took forever.

OK, can't get new drivers, so that's out. Any other ideas, gentlemen?

EDIT: Oh yeah, AIVolution is broken in 2.1b3.

Um, how about buy a recent video card? Something made in the past 1-2 years.
If you go this route, then please post which video card you want to get BEFORE you buy it, so we can tell you if it is a good one or not.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to get an upgrade on this computer. It's had a virus on it for the past 1 1/2 years and we only just got it back fixed.

These are all good ideas, but I think we're starting to run dry...
