Where are the screenshots?
Where are the screenshots?
They don't appear in ".../My Documents/Warzone 2100/screendumps" as they did in the previous versions.

Re: Where are the screenshots?
They are now in hidden folder:
Documents and settings/%your username%/local settings/application data/Warzone 2100 2.1
Documents and settings/%your username%/local settings/application data/Warzone 2100 2.1
Re: Where are the screenshots?
Hidden folder?
You can use --configdir d:\warzoneconfig1
so it can use a different config directory than the crappy default. (Made crappy by MS's 'rules'--see the thread on this)
Just note, that d:\warzoneconfig1 *MUST* already exist! If not, it will crash.
You can put it anyplace you want, and any name you want.
You just have to remember to always run the program with that command line option.

Re: Where are the screenshots?
"local settings" is hidden folder, so it has many drawbacks:
- you can not find any files stored there and in subfolders with windows search, you have to use extended search
- normal user can not see this folder in windows explorer, he has to allow showing hidden files and folders first
- the folder path is variable, depend on username
So it was better solution using "My ducuments" as default base-folder.

Re: Where are the screenshots?
Microsoft wants (don't remember the page, but am sure someone will come up with a link if necessary) that data to be in "Local Settings\Application Data" and not "My Documents\My Games" or "My Documents" as it was before. I even got complaints about this from several people...
Most were iirc along the lines of: It clutters my My Documents folder...
Besides of that, I agree with you MetalBeast. That was exactly why I choose My Documents before.

The My Documents path is variable too.- the folder path is variable, depend on username
Btw, I prefer searching in an hidden folder for Warzone files rather then having directories in "My Documents" that aren't actually documents... However, that's only my opinion

Which is why older games don't work in multiuser setups without modification.MetalBeast wrote: I would prefer just subfolder in warzone myfolder, like the most games do...

And that's why the Application Data folder is there

Re: Where are the screenshots?
ahh come on, how many people are using their pc's for multiuser gaming ?
I dont know anyone.
Family-PC is out, today, each family-member has his own one
Anyway you give us the possibility to define our own store-folder, I think it is the best solution

So stop complaining( ), and do that if you want it changed. Either that, or get the source and...

Re: Where are the screenshots?
Humm, why is it again they cannot use the warzone directory? i do not know..
Is it due to some people (including me) install to another drive or directory?

Re: Where are the screenshots?
You mean the installation directory? Because that's bad, very bad as it requires administrator access just to be able to store config files. (And administrator access is also required to trash your system, so it's a good thing if people don't need administrator access for the most trivial of things.)Laserlight wrote: Humm, why is it again they cannot use the warzone directory?
