Re: Gfx Improvement Ideas / WZM Format proposals

BTW, is it true that for a model to work in warzone, no two triangles can ever intersect? If that is the case then making some geometric intersections not an engine-killer would be a nice feature down the pipe. That is not true. Just about every single effects model (like lasers, projectiles, etc) ...

Re: Gfx Improvement Ideas / WZM Format proposals

I can not see how this situation would ever arise — whereby a binary format would allow for graphical enhancements while a textual one would not. Ah. I meant to point out that binary formats tend to have more capabilities as the situation is right now, not the theoretical capabilities of either (to...

Re: Gfx Improvement Ideas / WZM Format proposals

The perceived benefits of a textual model format, including human readability and ease of reconstruction don't add as much value to a format as I once thought -- points are implicitly numbered, and thus deleting one line in the POINTS section destroys the whole model in a difficult-to-recover way. ...

Re: Gfx Improvement Ideas / WZM Format proposals

Interesting. But why go with an existing physics engine if you wouldn't want to go with an existing graphics engine? Is a physics engine something that 'ties' into the code base in fewer places maybe? Physics engines do tend to be less invasive, yeah. Comprehensive graphics engines have to deal wit...

Re: Gfx Improvement Ideas / WZM Format proposals

I do like the WZM format proposal. Except for a few naming conventions, I think it's a positive push. However, now that I've thought about it more, I believe that making a clean break and phasing in a binary format, since, besides something like XML/YAML, there's a limit to how far you can take huma...

Re: Prefered map type?

cyote I understand height maps perfectly I was refering to whether the game could cope with units firing accross a ravine in the map well. I've never seen any issues with that whatsoever, even when the engine used hit/miss instead of collision detection (during hit/miss, i think it still validated ...

Re: Prefered map type?

I agree with Buginator and Elio in large part, and especially with the sentiment of NewTiberian. I'd also like to add that I like water, and reasonable amounts of it -- 8p-Manhattan will always have a place in my heart for that, but also the final campaign mission against the new paradigm -- if you ...

Re: Updated GPL release readme

hmmmmm... interesting debate (as always). one could always assert that 'free' includes the ability to deny the freedoms of others. of course, it's not as though Chojun would have GNU-style freedoms with those proprietary components in the first place, in which case, he is not restricting the freedom...

Re: Another Power Generator

ack. another day, another minute i wish i had to spend on redoing the blender pie plugin... errors aside, for the foreseeable future, the 3ds2pie exporter is going to be the way to go, and from everything i've seen, it's very robust in its own right.

Re: Another Power Generator

here's a suggestion: all of these power generators are quite good in general. as long as you're aiming for perfection, great! but in the meantime, why not make each distinct power generator style that you've created the model for each faction (one for project, one for new paradigm, etc) :) It's alre...

Re: Would it be possible to port Warzone2100 on wii ?

i would agree with Chojun. while i've only used the wii a couple times, and have only rudimentary skills, i've seen what my friend is capable of, and so it's not a controller issue. specifically holding one button to select, another one to scroll would be awesome, with the scroll speed based on how ...

Re: something I am working on.

i don't disagree with rush2049. it doesn't cause problems for anyone if he makes models that may turn out to obliterate performance on modern machines, since we'd certainly do testing for that sort of thing before we'd integrate any models into the trunk where it'd affect everyone. plus we could use...

Nope I put them in the warzone scripts directory and it still crahses, had you gotten it to work before? lol, i'd hope i've gotten it to work before, being as that i was the (most recent) developer. can you explain what you mean by "warzone scripts directory"? you need to put the blender-...
