Re: warzone 2100 2.3.1

I have happily played WZ on a Pentium 4 with an nVidia card.

Get a cheap nVidia card and use the nVidia driver. Otherwise, you are trapped in the past.

Re: warzone 2100 2.3.1

OpenGL 1.2 has been around since 1998. Most PCs should be able to run it. (I know, "most")

Tell us more about your PC and graphics card. Maybe we can help.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)

I think the texpages bundled with the game are downscaled compared to MaNGusT's originals. They were batch-compressed by someone to save a few megabytes, don't know was it really needed. The textures were processed in a way suitable for web graphics, NOT for use a texture maps. I believe we are bey...

Re: Why was rank removed? Many problems!

I find the argument that "yes, the data is bad, but we can still use it to make decisions" to be simply hilarious. Not only is WZ rank easily modified, but it is also transient. Hard drive crash? New computer? If you just installed Warzone, you are suddenly a noob no matter what your exper...

Re: Enhanced Balance Mod for 3.x

In order to managing the complexity of this, you need to put it under some sort of version control system. That will give you some hope of being able to tell what has changed from one version to another. Also, there are a number of tools, both graphical and command-line, that will show you the diffe...

Re: Solution to Kicking New Players - PRO GAMES USE PASSWORD

FWIW, I think removing rank to fix the kick problem is a terrible idea
You misunderstand the intent. As currently implemented, it is unreliable data. Given that the rank info is stored in a local file on the player's machine, it is possible to edit the file and be any rank you want.

Re: 3.1.3 has been released!

You might want to create a separate thread titled something like Problem Building 3.13

In it, you could include more information. Something like:

I'm building WZ on $MY_PLATFORM using the guide at $SOME_LINK
It fails at Step N
Here is the exact error message text.

The ffmpeg utility can split video into separate streams. Or recombine them.

Re: @per about accuracy

The point about evolving countermeasures is valid. But I'm going to engage in some hand-waving and suggest we treat that as something we don't model and ignore it - for now. Note that Per has done some work in Electronic Counter Measures (ECM), for example. And the idea of popping smoke to hide move...

Re: @per about accuracy

random thoughts: 100% accuracy? Oh Noes! Compared to it's WWII counterpart, a modern main battle tank with a gunnery computer, stabilized gun and thermal sights has a pretty good chance of hitting it's target. By 'pretty good', I mean much, much greater than 0.0 and approaching 1.0. Same thing with ...

If something is not working, that means something is wrong. We need more info.

But that belongs in a separate thread since it is nothing to do with this topic.

Re: The Animator cut-scene thread. Post Here about the video

But 3D cinematics and cut scenes are a different story, especially when the in-game models and textures are as low-poly as the ones in Warzone... That was the gist of my question. The in-game models are waaaay too low-poly to be used as-is, unless you are going for a cartoony look. As I understand ...

I've lost track of exactly which models these are. I was under the impression the Art Revolution models were quite nice.

Still, with enough hinting and winking and nudging we might get lucky with the icon visibility one day No, It is not a matter of hints and nudges. It is a matter of people doing the work. The GUI has been a thorn in our paw for a long time. (to re-iterate, it was written by hand before modern UI to...
