Re: Just a question cause I don't know
Can't you just use your phone as a mobile hotspot and use its internet connection directly from your laptop? Then you don't have to worry about what the apps are doing.

Re: Structure Improvement
Hi You can always make the texture as big as you want, it can be downscaled later. The important thing is to not get into the trap of adding huge amounts of tiny details onto small models just because your resolution allows it. I think MaNGusT's guidelines are good. As for polycount, the limiting fa...

I like that one, actually. It's a bit like tracer fire

Re: New PR: Droid sensor ranges (Shift+F12)
Looking good
Does it have a lot of performance impact? If I understood correctly, the old implementation could murder the framerate quite efficiently

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I think that the ability to choose "linear" and "none" are all we need. Anything fancier can simply be done in e.g. blender and it will generate the extra keyframes for you

Downloaded the stuff, but it's all .max files, so I think it's best for me to let MaNGusT take care of it for the time being

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
@Colditz Good to see you man, I downloaded your stuff, gonna put it to good use. @aliswe: as long as we only have a limited set of assets, I think it's good to keep it as a mod, but the plan has always been to make a complete overhaul of the graphics. In fact, the ground textures in the game now wer...

Re: Design mode
Actually this makes sense as the weapons are already internally grouped into types, i.e. anti-personnel (mg, lasers), all-round(cannons, railguns), anti-vehicle (rockets, missiles), artillery, incendiary and anti-air. That would also make it clear to people that i.e. MRA is not an anti-tank weapon

Re: Suggestion: Remove the "stop with the silly ideas & suggestions" thread
I remember it being relevant at the time it was made, but I agree that anyone new to the forum would be turned off by it at this point. Also, the people who were spamming silly requests and then getting upset because no one was acknowledging their contribution are no longer active, so I think it sho...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Hi guys
Status update: my old computer kept getting increasingly unstable (not just software, hardware), so I decided to get a new one (it's awesome )
Anyway, here is some work on the scav power generator I did, currently at 713 tris, might go up to 1000, but not much more than that.

Re: New effect PR: Missile smoketrails!
do you mean the depth buffer? I presume it would be needed though ... I'm not an expert and you're getting dangerously close to my area of incompetence :lol2: I believe even with this annoyance, the effect is in a releasable state. PRs are more than welcome though! Looked a bit at the openGL docume...

Re: New effect PR: Missile smoketrails!
I think the fix you could make is to simply disable writing to the z buffer when drawing the smoke trails. I'm not an expert on the current drawing code but I think it should be possible. If I remember correctly there was a draw mode where you do z testing without writing to it.

Re: New effect PR: Missile smoketrails!
Good stuff :) So the evenly spaced billboards are changed into a strip of quads plotting the trail? Some comments/suggestions: -I can see some alpha blending artifacts. I think the original fx fix this by using additive blending, which avoids drawing order issues. -The start of the trail looks a bit...

Re: Web-based PIE viewer
So far I have been exporting .obj-files from blender, which gives me most of what I need, with the exception of animation, for which I have made my own export script. I still do a little bit of hand-editing the pie files in notepad++, but most of it can be done either in WMIT or my export script. No...

No encouragement to be found from you I guess? This is part of what I don't like with this community. "We have this, we have that". Challenging of status quo is not encouraged at all, except in ways that are already in motion and "taken". Kinda harsh perhaps ... but that's the g...
