On the topic of AI, how feasible would it be to have AI scripts function from the game, like plugins, instead of having to start a mod with adjusted AI?

really!!! you should read the tutorials. I did. Twice. There's no mention of setting up the directories anywhere. Not the official tutorial, or the one you linked (which I hadn't found before I read the thread that jimmbob linked, where is it linked on-site?). I did found that I erred somewhere tho...

Ah, groovy! I finally got it to work... though I can't actually load any maps I had already made (because it still loads the datasets from data/ instead of samples/), other then that it works fine.
Maybe this should be added to the tutorial as well?

I'm having some trouble setting up EditWorld32. When you start it for the first time you get a setup window asking you to set a number of directories, but it isn't clear to me what each should contain, or where I can find this. I was curious, is the ability to actually select ones starting position in multiplayer/skirmish (and possibly those of the AI as well) one of the upcoming features or hasn't this been decided yet?
