Re: *Brogrammers* or "The Ugly Underbelly of Coder Culture."
Can I stick my nose in here as a non-techie lay person? I'm going to assume that "industrial" coding is - like other industrial grade activities - about productivity, ie profit for those who set up the industry. Young men may make up the bulk of the work force here simply because they are ...

Re: Difficulties with difficulties
A good way to get the feel of a game like WZ is to play the early stages of campaign mode, where you will learn bit by bit how to build your base and defend it, then how to organise attacks. Check also the "options/game options" dialog in the start screen. You can adjust difficulty level h...

Re: Warzone 2100 Fork: Legacy
And, not commonly known... Central to Troman's A.I. dev process included working for years with one of the great WZ MP players. This player freely shared all his winning insights and was dedicated to making the SP experience as compelling as MP at its most enjoyable and also evolving the overlap of...

Re: Warzone 2100 Fork: Legacy
Even under 222, aiv is still good hard fun. The great thing is that that version can sustain the frenetic battles when the AIs gang up on you. (No doubt playing it on a sammy gamer helps.) But the sheer magic of the mod under the cd/110 was the ultimate experience. troman really grasped the potentia...

Re: Warzone 2100 Fork: Legacy
. I brought up Mods. Let me explain why. ~ By definition, a mod is NOT merged into the core game. ~ Mods are universally acknowledged as the long-term life blood of a game that endures and grows in popularity. ~ How this universal acknowledment is manifest in reality differs. A game can be Mod frie...

Re: Warzone 2100 Fork: Legacy
@Rman: We have no problem with mods and would be angry if map mod support were to become broken. I believe that mods are good for the game, but should never, ever, be integrated into the balance. We would like to create unit movement similar to 2.3.9, but since our current codebase plays very much ...

@avestron: I assume you are being disingenuous. And if you are subtle enough for disingenuity, then you should also have a taste for metaphor. Incidentally, I reserve the right to choose how I respond to unsolicited pm, especially those looking for "an argument". @bendib: a thought. Consid...

Re: Warzone 2100 Fork: Legacy
The nastiness of the 31 crew shows them up as losers. If they could, they would trump Legacy with a playable version of 31 - and we all know that won't happen.
Don't waste your time on them, bendib, keep it for the good work you are doing.

Re: 3.1 rc 3 is the end of the world, and kills kittens!!!
This thread proves something - it was worth all the tedious ranting, whining, whinging (sorry, that was my term) and pointed argument. If the dev can establish some kind of control group and policy, then that's the good that has been achieved. Incidentally, I should comment on the fanboy phenomenon,...
