Re: operating system

... - It takes a lot of time to really get into linux. ... The same could be said for first time users of any Microsoft OS. It's just a different sized tool box with different tools inside. I just happen to think that "Linux" is the better built, maintained, and more complete toolbox. As for just d...

Re: operating system

"Linux" is totally free ware top to bottom, side to side, and front to back. There are some distributions you pay for support on, but they're purely for corporate type peoples. :) If your looking for some easy to use and at least fairly well documented distributions of Linux I'd suggest Fedora or De...

Re: need some quick help

If copying the picture by hand didn't work make sure the file names are exactly the same as the ones you want to play, in the same directory, and keep the path as as a simple dot. If that works try moving them and updating the path line. Also are you sure the version you got was compiled with MP3 or...

Re: Need help updating dated sourse RPM(long)

I think I was trying too hard and got around that all that mess. After spending too much time fixing my PC, bad RAM, and reading too to many cross references :P Instead of going even that far and risking braking the build files I decided put a far similar script  %prep section of the source RPM's sp...

Re: What ever happened to...

If you want a solution to threat assessment when you can only see one of fifty that are coming? My suggest: You have a intelligence failure, Stop focusing on threat probability of one target and start working on a way to either link up existing sensors into a larger network or adjust existing sensor...

Need help updating dated sourse RPM(long)

Detailed problem: Downloaded the Warzone2100 almost works perfectly, well minus some bugs. The real issue is with who ever posts the package compiled it funny and a few features that should work, and do on other platforms, do not. Np, I can download the source recompile it my self and everything co...

Re: VB Programmer

My I maybe rude and offer unsolicited advice? It was still BASIC when made the switch to straight to C++(Looking back, I'm glad I skipped basic C. C++ still lets you do the same thing, but by default it's very strict on some thing. C would let you make mistakes and just trust you know what your doin...

The most painless scripting language I ever had to learn was C++ :P . Neverwinter Nights map editor uses a simplified C++ language to script.

Re: Problem with Hardened Linux version.

Anything enabled or disable is by default in the http://download.gna.org/warzone/release ... .7.tar.bz2 download. I just compiled it(./configure;make) after remembering it doesn't overwrite anything until after the 'make install' command.

Re: Problem with Hardened Linux version.

I bring good news, the your code is most likely, almost certainly, not at fault so you can breath easy there. Whatever the issue is with the Fedora/openSUSE of Warzone2100 is it's not the dev teams doing. I did a ./configure and make. Warzone2100 ran fine from the src directory. ...After trying to a...

Re: Nuclear reactors

No, just four years of electronics(Lots-O-Theory), watching too much Modern Marvels , Now off the air Discovery channel programs(Beyond 2000 for example), and lot of observations. I couldn't tell you great deal about the physics, but I can make mistakes... :p I mean tell you a fair deal about electr...

Re: Problem with Hardened Linux version.

Forgive, I sound like I know more then I do("A lot of general stuff about a lot of specific things"  :P) I read too many Wiki pages and watched too much Discovery channel back when it was interesting :) As for the function that is failing I have no idea right now, last time I looked at sourse code I...

Re: Nuclear reactors

Cooling would be a large part of the structures mass. Considering the oil, presumably burned, and and the reactor both just heat water to turn the same thing, a turbine. As for overheating? Drop the control rods, the reaction stops, and no further significant heat is released. So unless containment ...

Problem with Hardened Linux version.

My problem: I want to disable the timer, I like taking my time to build up my bases and methodically pick my enemy apart, simultaneous bombing, bombardment, and hit and run attacks to pick apart my target's defensive wall. Well, before sending in two commanders with 20ish rank 5 or more tanks /w sho...
