Re: It is a poll!

I can send you a .blend if you want ;) maybe a .3ds or obj if you like it better
It's a bit hi-poly but i wanted to post this pic fast so I didn't have time to optimize (yes I indeed made it exclusively for this thread today)

Re: Cannon models (light, medium and heavy). Request to join

Thanks, I actually make two models. First the lowpoly to see what details I can manage to fit into the geometry, then I make a detailed hi-poly model which I use to make bump- and lightmaps. All the models are around 100 polygons, I've written the exact number of tris in previous posts together with...

Re: Models by macuser

I've used sketchup also and I thought it was very fast and easy to get started with, but also very limited. The modeling is best suited for quick concepts and architechtural design. Blender is a lot more advanced and it's therefore easy to get lost with in the beginning, however it gives you absolut...

Re: models by MaNGusT

It's propably the local xyz option. Otherwise the "world" option will give the same result if your model is unrotated.

Re: models by MaNGusT

May I suggest using an object space normal map instead. It will ignore any smoothing and overwrite the surface normal according to the object orientation. This is ideal for warzone since all objects are non-deforming. If tangent space is the only available mapping, just do what you prefer, I can con...

Re: Models by macuser

Thanks mangust :) because of those, I have done the whole thing now not just mapping the uvs but also the texture! Here is the final model and texture :geek: :!!!: However, just for the record: I hate blender. Many people don't like blender because of the learning curve, the interface is quite diff...

Re: Cannon models (light, medium and heavy). Request to join

Changed a few things, will start cleaning up the lightmap and finalizing it... http://andeye.dnsalias.net/goran/lmg_2.jpg textured, hi-poly and original. Since it is already only 89 tris, I think I'll let the barrel be hexagonal. It's propably not gonna be produced in huge numbers either so it won't...

Re: Models by macuser

I'm sorry to be so harsh but I'm afraid this model wont make it into the game unless you remake it from scratch. Not because of the design but because of the mesh structure. You made this in sketchup or 3dsmax? Either way the program apparently doesn't tell you much about the mesh topology. Either t...
