Re: Power consumption

Yes, I was looking at 2.3 source, not trunk, since 2.3 is what I use to play.

Re: Savegame incompatibility (campaign only?)

From my point of view, not really a problem that I need to fix - it just means that if someone is running on one of those processors, the savegames are going to be hard for someone else to work with (for example, for bug reporting purposes etc.). I may redo one or two of those. Thanks for letting me...

Re: Savegame incompatibility (campaign only?)

There are a couple of savegames I have uploaded to Trac from my old computer (Tickets 1608 and 1588), and one in an old thread: http://forums.wz2100.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5246 The last of these (the one from the thread) I know does strange things on my new computer (select units and give them move...

Re: The *NEW* Warzone walkthrough (Done with RED units)

Even completely walling off an area will not stop enemy units from spawning, as they actually spawn outside the area you can build in and move into the main map from there. In Gamma5, I didn't lose many (any?) defensive structures directly to Nexus control - what I did lose was mainly factories, may...

Re: Power consumption

If you don't believe me, you can look in the source - power.c is the relevant file. As I said, in my practical experience, the amount they use is pretty small and not really noticeable.

Savegame incompatibility (campaign only?)

This week, I upgraded from a rather older PowerPC G4 mac to a new macbook Pro. I had a couple of quirks with starting Warzone on the new machine; one was due to monitor size and my settings (for some reason, the --width and --height options didn't work, I just changed monitor setup but probably coul...

Re: Power consumption

When I've looked closely, repair facilities/turrets use power as well. It's hard to notice because they don't use very much, they only use it when repairing units, and it's easily masked if you have any derricks at all. (And it's rare to have a game where you have repair but no oil). I only noticed ...

Re: VTOL sensor turret

Yes, but the circle order doesn't work quite like the patrol order, at least the last time I tried it - I think the issue was that units that need to re-arm or repair remain at/near their pad when they are done, rather than returning to the circle they were previously flying. If I was doing somethin...

Patrolling works well when all the area I need to cover is in a more-or-less linear swath. Are there good ways to set up a patrol over a more complicated path, to cover something more like a square/circular area?

Re: Campaign time limit mod (complete!!)

It's over now. I've just defeated NEXUS :lol2: , and the total game time is <10:45. The last level's limit is set to 50 minutes. Nexus is pretty weak actually; most base levels boil down to a simple 20-minute rush. If only he used tracks, he could have easily killed us all ^_^ When I played convent...

Re: Forums and IE6

Really, it's more what does my IT department expect. I'm not the only one in this situation; up till the end of March, my wife's job was programming and maintaining training and certification websites for corporate clients, some of whom were still also stuck at IE6. I'll look into a portable version.

Forums and IE6

The Board index, and the list of topics within each individual forum, do not display at all usably on IE6 - they are compressed vertically. Individual threads are fine. I know, IE6 is two versions out of date. Normally I read from my home computer, but right now I am on a business trip, with only th...

Re: Tutorials and Games

I have savegames at the end of every campaign level from alpha 2 onwards (i.e. you load the game and it starts alpha 3). If it's of use to someone, I can certainly zip them up and put them somewhere.

Re: DyDo, AI for skirmish games and challenges

Here are two more savegame sets on that 3 player map; in both I achieve victory just after the 30 minute mark with few or no losses. In one I use the same rocket/machinegun research path, the other I use a flamer/cannon path. You can tell that I get faster once I know the map well. I want to start l...
