Yes! Fake geometry!
I think this could look really good for craters and cliffs

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
Good stuff MaNGusT, really captures the old galvanized steel plate look. Are the textures unique for each building, or will you be making "trim sheets" to allow more reuse of textures between models, now that we have tangent space maps?

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Hello all After some discussion with pastdue I started toying with the idea of having a simplified mesh as shadow caster. Here are some tests with the HQ model. The full model is 2000 triangles. I set up a scene in blender so that one model is visible but doesn't cast shadows, while the other is an ...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
I have always assumed it's a wrecked panther body. Could be cobra as well. Crane model looks good, but all the cranes I have seen actually have the swivel joint at the top, close to the cabin https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a7/93/bd/a793bdbdf40cd204609bd66fa8269c06.jpg The original model is obviously simp...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
Very good progress MaNGusT :) Regarding the different textures in different tilesets, adding more masks will increase the GPU memory requirements of course, and could also limit the kind of things you could do. Creating three separate sets of textures has no impact on performance and it's the easies...

Re: Just a question cause I don't know
Sounds to me like microsoft is just intentionally clogging up their own phones so that people will change them as fast as possible. That way they can end their support faster now that they are no longer making windows phones.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I've been thinking about animating the propulsion models, but first I had to make consistent specularity maps for them. Made painted surfaces and tires semigloss, bare metal and scratches glossy, and crevices and dirt matte. I'm thinking about reusing some of the textures across models, especially w...

Re: Just a question cause I don't know
Can't you just use your phone as a mobile hotspot and use its internet connection directly from your laptop? Then you don't have to worry about what the apps are doing.

Re: Structure Improvement
Hi You can always make the texture as big as you want, it can be downscaled later. The important thing is to not get into the trap of adding huge amounts of tiny details onto small models just because your resolution allows it. I think MaNGusT's guidelines are good. As for polycount, the limiting fa...

Re: New PR: Droid sensor ranges (Shift+F12)
Looking good
Does it have a lot of performance impact? If I understood correctly, the old implementation could murder the framerate quite efficiently

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I think that the ability to choose "linear" and "none" are all we need. Anything fancier can simply be done in e.g. blender and it will generate the extra keyframes for you

Downloaded the stuff, but it's all .max files, so I think it's best for me to let MaNGusT take care of it for the time being

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
@Colditz Good to see you man, I downloaded your stuff, gonna put it to good use. @aliswe: as long as we only have a limited set of assets, I think it's good to keep it as a mod, but the plan has always been to make a complete overhaul of the graphics. In fact, the ground textures in the game now wer...
