Re: big idea small topic

EDIT: Things like editing weapon specs are a quick and easy change of text editing- adding new functions to units (as long as it is currently in the coding) is also fairly simple, but time consuming (at least for me)- now for adding dedicated servers that can host a map possibly 200x a normal map, a...

Re: big idea small topic

I'm not saying that it's impossible, it's been done before, it's just no one has the time to do something like that. Anyone who develops is doing it for fun and in their own free time. Before you ask about these things, try modding and looking at the coding, then ask away. Also proper english gramma...

Re: big idea small topic

As cool as this idea seems the issue is not just the coding issues, but the server issues. Who will pay for the server? Even then, we would need a dedicated staff to just dealing with the ins and outs of the server- a staff who has decided to work for free and is currently busy with more things than...

Re: In-Game Music

The problem isn't as much as getting music in as being able to code it according to certain events. It'll take an AI to try and figure out which situations call for which kind of music from a list of GPL music or music that we are allowed to use. Once we find out how to use that AI, then we can cons...

That's why I say we still need bullet sponge focused cyborgs and snipers.

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

I was thinking that story would only involve Tutorial Missions, the first conquest, and some reveals about other factions trying to fight for the US. Then there are certain "chokepoints" where the player MUST go through in order to continue. These are basically giant forts that will also a...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

No, I think you don't understand that regardless of tech, the last "boss" will be a massive fortress where you have no hope of punching though without some heavy firepower, namely not viper machineguns.

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

Let me put it this way, if you WANT, you can rush the boss. You can also use viper MGs against Rockets and Cannons on hardcrete. And if you WANT, you can send only 10 vipers at a time, but if you consider the possibility that being able to land 50 heavy archangels every 2 minutes, then I think the c...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

I got it. Basically, I'll try to find some reason why a certain area would be useful. How many are you guys thinking would be a good number?

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

lol touche- map is basically done, just need to clean it up a lot with photoshop... I'll layer in a geological map and create fine semi-transparent white lines for borders.

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

Sure, playing territorial grab is fun, but I think it'll get extremely repetitive eventually. That's why I want (down the line of course, but for now just maps) that each territory is a scenario. Something, not to the vast scale of Rman Virgil's crazy awesome map, but something where you have a cert...

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

The thing I'm currently worried about is that if you successfully attack a province, then the enemy takes it back, what would you be attacking/what are the objectives the second time around?

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

Basically, it's not so much as giving the computer something you don't have, it just happens that the computer has a different set of techs that it got from conquest. Initially, you'll be fighting against the Scavs for control of the area, while the other teams also battle for conquest of the world....

Re: Massive Conquer the World (Or almost) Campaign

How about a whole time limit where the player has to destroy something before the timer runs out or the laser satellite will rain destruction on his army. The point is that no matter what, you won't be able to take your sweet little time killing everything around. Eventually, it should turn into a m...
