That's it! I've don't seen userLimits property because it not in all items, and I didn't understand "designable" before.
I already started to reproduce a new modern mod, and I even think to make maybe some variations...

I can second the call to not divert manpower . As OpenGL is already working and will also work for e.g. Linux, I would not put too much effort into a DirectX renderer, unless someone is really passionate. A simple interim solution would be to build a blacklist of bad drivers, and ask users to upgrad...
