Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
The problem is not so much the viewports, now that I think of it. It really boils down to the original Cobra having a single face on the front, while in your model the viewports are at a significantly steeper angle then the rest of the front. Or rather, the front faces above and below are at a signi...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
It is probably too late to mention this, since you alredy finished the model, but here are my two cents anyway. I agree with Jorzi that the viewports on the model are too wide. This coupled with the facets you gave to the front plate make the Cobra very BRDM-2-ish. It also makes it look more like a ...

Re: Models by MaNGusT (AR)
The green part, well... for quite a while I just imagined that meant a external fuel tank, basically a barrel, as russian tank designs from the T-54 onwards had. But now that I think of it this does not make much sense. If it would be a external tank you'd think The Projecct had them on all of their...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
You are probably right about the super cyborgs. I think that under their armor is something like the powerloader from Alien 2. As far as a shoulder mount for the cyborg goes, a big problem would be balance, I suppose. If all the weight rests on his right shoulder, as it does in the current model, he...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
True, the original model has a turret structure instead of a right arm. But then again, said turret is bulky enough to have the arm inside it. Plus, the model was suppoed to be as minimalistic as possible, so one can't tell much from it. As far as Nexus 'borgs go, they might be subjected to surgical...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I'm not too sure about the cyborg model. Overall, it is an okay design. But I doubt the soldiers would agree to have their right arm removed to fit into the cyborg armor. After all the game says cyborgs are a means to make infantry functional in the 21. century and that they are soldiers wearing pow...

Re: God mode
You can not do this at the moment, but you can do the next best thing: Entering 'deity' in debug mode reveals the whole map, and 'biffer baker' makes your units and structures almost invincible. But if you think at it, there is really no point in playing a game if you rig it like that. I recommend p...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
@ Jorzi: The german Luchs reconnaissance vehicle uses plastic brushes in the ejector port to keep dirt out. Thinking along these lines, you could just model the ejector as a rectangular indentation and paint the bottom in a bar-code texture. Can't get any cheaper then that.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
@ Jorzi: That ejector might get the cases clear of the hull roof as long as the turret points forwards or backwards. They'd still hit the vehicle when it is firing to the right or left. Infantry getting hit by some cases should not be that much of a problem. It happens all the time actually. Cases h...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
A good attempt, basically. But I can see a major technical flaw with how you solved it. It looks like the cases are ejected downwards, from slots in the underside of the ejectors. This means the ejected cases would accumulate on the hull roof. Admittedly, most would rebound and fly off. But sooner o...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Definitely Assault cannon, the Whirlwind turret is much higher in relation to the barrels. The blocks projecting to either side should be ammo containers, I agree with that. Maybe interchangeable or with lids for fast reloading. But at this stage, the turret lacks some kind of ejector for cycled she...

Re: Idea: Mini-AI to automate player's commanders
Somehow, I doubt a AI capable of automating commanders in the way you describe will be exactly mini... Making them capable to seize or defend resources is easy. But letting a commander choose the troops it will need for a given task, possibly from troops currently available is another matter. It wou...

Re: silent / loud propulsions for dynamic sensor range
Just to clarify: Ground-based radars are totally able to detect ground targets. Compare this artricle describing the RASIT system. This is just one example of several, which I happen to know from my own military experience. It detects individuals over a range of 6000 m, groups of persons over 8000 m...

Re: RedShocktrooper's Suggestion Collection
Here are my thoughts. They are not very flattering, but you asked for them: Idea #1: The Union A "Union" faction centering on multi-turret vehicles apparently is a anachronism. Such vehicles were experimented with in the 1920's as a means to make a rolling fortress. But they didn't get far...

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
The cut-away sections on the nose of the Eagle and Kestrel transports, it seems to me, are in themselves tributes to the windows of the Gemini spacecraft from the NASA program of the same name. On those vehicles, windows for the pilots were located in similar, albeit much smaller, indentations.
