Re: Problem launching 3.1.3

That is a Windows system file.

When reporting problems, it is always good to mention the platform (operating system & hardware) you are running on.

Re: Virus in 3.1.3!

This is an error from your virus checker. We occasionally get messages about this. Assuming you got 3.1.3 from our server, your virus scanner is giving a FALSE POSITIVE. This means it thinks something is in the code that is not. If you got Warzone from someplace else, don't! We build our Windows ver...

Re: wanted: comprehensive templates.ini

but I'm slightly surprised there isnt a mod entirely to fix some of the graphics and layout foibles. Because a mod would not do it. Mods change the game data - maps, models, stats. the GUI is code. Very old code, from before the days of UI toolkits. At the risk of over-simplifying, our UI is pixel ...

Re: Changing how armour upgrades work

. but really if structure armour and weapon upgrades are applied automatically, shouldn't it be the same for tank/borg armour? That's it in a nutshell. It's the way we want the game to work. Game objects get handled consistently. It's the future! We have nanotechnology. It emphasized the value of r...

One thing to note is that there is often a firewall running on the router AND on your computer. Something to check for.

Re: Shooting for a 3.1.3 release before the end of the year

in online play - without bots seems like game runs fine.
Does this mean there is a problem WITH bots?

We are seeing some occasional slow-down with the new template fixes that suggests a thread locking issue.

It was not clear from your question what exactly you were asking for.

On the Interwebs, we all have different levels of skill with English - our planetary language. But together, we get by. No need to apologize. Or get snotty.

Re: Non-existent menu, building menu, map.

Sounds more and more like a video driver issue. Has the exact platform ever been mentioned? (operating system, graphics card/chipset).

If the latest video driver does not help, try going back to an older one that does.

Re: New maps

The trick with random maps is not generating all 260,000+ possible versions and picking one you like, but rather generating one to match the given parameters.

Doing it that way requires about 1/4 millionth of the storage space and a whole lot less time. Plus randomness!

Man, it would be nice to get rid of those 8.3 names, now that we are no longer constrained by DOS.

Re: The Animator cut-scene thread. Post Here about the video

If I were me, I would grab some of the Art Revolution models and start working with them for the animations. They are quite pretty. A little heavy for the game itself, perhaps, but they would look great animated. Jorzi is your friend. If you use Empties or Proxies (or whatever your animation system ...

Re: The Animator cut-scene thread. Post Here about the video

Interesting, Jorzi. Random thought: I'm not sure (yet!) how we do targeting. Are we using the bounding box of the target or a specific center point? If it is the latter, maybe we could add a fake connector to the models to designate the center.

Re: New maps

There is a random map generator called Diorama http://warzone2100.org.uk/ Uses some AI techniques. Can take a long time to run, depending on the parameters you give it. Does amazingly well, IMHO. I have a couple of generated maps laying around. Maybe I can upload them to Addons if they still work. T...

Re: Shooting for a 3.1.3 release before the end of the year

We didn't comment because we were busy testing. Yeah, that's our story and we are sticking to it! Two issues I've noticed: the PNG library whines mercilessly about bad sRGB profiles in our .pngs. I will look into this further. Note these are just annoying warnings and not errors. Desync Probs. Using...
