In warzone2100 2.0.5rc1 briefing takes a really loooong time while the game seems to hang, and it doesn't respond to signals (except SIGKILL) or keyboard.
OS: GNU/Linux (OpenSUSE 10.0)

You mean you got a black, blue or orange screen and nothing happens? You see a text, but it takes hours till the next lines come up?
That's the replacement of the former video sequences (which were not released by Eidos and we are thus not allowed to play. (And there is no code available to play them on all our supported platforms, either)).
This will hopefully improve in 2.1 or 2.2.
Till then you should be able to skip over them by clicking or pressing ESC.

That Warzone doesn't respond to any signals (even clicking the window close button has no effect) is known, a fix was tried, but apparently the situation is more complex, as the event handling code seems to be spread all over the application...
I aim to have a solution for this in 2.1

Thanks for the information :-)
Clicking doesn't seem to work, but ESC does.
