1.x CD broken, need replacement

I've had WZ2100 since about 1999, with the original 2 cd set, fully registered etc.

I went to install it about 3 months ago on my new PC and found that the 1st cd had a nasty crack running across it and is now totally unusable and I can't install the game again.

I realize the game has gone "public domain" , and I hope someone can help me find a way of installing/running the game again......it still rocks!

I'm running a Celeron dual core, with a half gig of ddr memory, and plenty of hdd space and XP media center with SP2.

TIA,

Seamus

You can download the new version, which actually is 2.0.10, in the Downloads menu. Developers have improved Warzone a lot since the old 1999 version, however, you wont be able to find music and fmvs online because they wasnt included in the GPL (General Public Licence), even if, since you have the older version, you can use them ingame by taking the files needed from original version cds.

That will be a full install without needing the original cd ? !!

That would be great since I have all the music etc

Yes, you can download the complete game and install it without using cds. You can add music and fmvs later, i dont know how to add fmvs (but id like to know since i have the original version too), to add music, you have to create a folder named "music" in the Warzone game directory, and put inside of it .ogg or .mp3 music files, a file called Music.wpl you will create with Notepad (use Save As, then call it music.wpl), using the following syntax:
[game]
path=.
shuffle=yes
trackone.ogg
tracktwo.ogg
trackthree.ogg
[menu]
path=.
shuffle=yes
trackone.ogg
tracktwo.ogg
trackthree.ogg

The [game] part indicates music which is used in-game, [menu] indicates music used as menu backrgound. You have to type in, after that, every track you want to put in the game as music, which is found in the "music" directory you just created. You can also indicate if use shuffle or not.

Since you own the Retail game you should be able to download a "backup" or "archival" copy without breaking any laws (if you live in the United States).

If so, check bittorrent.

Actually, if it's the 1st CD you say, then you can obtain it from Bronco's site (The WF Clan site).  Keep in mind that this is only legal if you own the CDs and other countries might have more or less strict laws about archival/backup copies.

No, we cannot give you direct links.
But you should be able to find it for yourself.

The resurrection project is a stand alone version of warzone 2100.

It misses the FMVs and the game music.
But if you have the game CD's left you can extract/convert the music to the OGG-Vorbis format and let them play ingame.

WF Clan stands for World Force Clan.
Now you should be able to help yourself...
