3DS 2 PIE converter
Hello fellow friends!
We've sat together and made a small tool for you.
The 3DS 2 PIE converter.
It converts your 3DS files into PIE files you can use in Warzone 2100 (who would have guessed...) and comes with a hopefully helpful GUI. (See attached screenshot.)
It supports drag&drop (the input file needs to end in ".3ds" for that purpose) and is translated to english and german.
Want to try it? Download and test it! (Use 7zip to extract it.)

Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
wow... nice work. I think this will be very useful espacially for those who dont want to create PIEs with pie editors.
Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter

Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
I've uploaded a new version at http://download.gna.org/warzone/develop ... ss-3493.7z which I would like you to test.
It has new defaults for the checkboxes, to match what we expect the usual 3DS Max created file to need.
Though the main difference is that I crosscompiled this one. (Still did not get rid of the .dlls, but I am working on that.) But it is already 300kB smaller.
(I'll update the introductory post when I know this file is actually working. I didn't have any problems with it in my VBox, but then I also had none with other which exes refused to work for some people...)

Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
The new version is file protected on your FTP. :-X
I'll try the other version, I haven't done anything for Warzone before but atleast 3dsmax is more convenient for me!
Now I need to find documentation on what and what not to do and the limitations of the engine...
Anyways, here's a quick model of the base from the game Z
Then i'll finish it and try doing the texture map.
Thanks!

I still need to figure out what the polygon limit is, how it works and how to make it proportional.
Then i'll finish it and try doing the texture map.
Thanks!

Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
looks nice, that could be a 4 turret fortress but it doesn't have more benefit than just 4 hardpoints besides that the fortress probably has lots more of armor...Ravey wrote: The new version is file protected on your FTP. :-X

Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
With earlier you mean Qt3? Then no, that will not work.libqt4-dev (maybe an earlier version of libqt would work)
Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
I have made an experimental converter that goes the other way (pie23ds.c). However, it is still rather buggy, and there is no GUI or windows build of it yet.HCN-Trooper wrote: Is it possible to convert the converter backways also....?

Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
Yes, sure. It should use your system language (with german being the only existing translation at the moment).winsrp wrote:is there a english version of the program? my german its kind of non existant.
If it does not do that, it would be a bug.
Re: 3DS 2 PIE converter
and by the way the link is not working.
