3.0-beta 2 is released!

Post by Buginator »

The Warzone 2100 Project staff bring you 3.0-beta 2!

Please submit all bugs via this link, and follow the directions listed at the link, we need every bit of that information in order to fix bugs!

NOTE: the command line arguments need a "=" between parameters now.
For example: --mod_mp=blah

NOTE: For mac users: Support for 10.4 has been discontinued; using 10.6 is highly recommended as 10.5 does not support a sufficiently high OpenGL version for all types of GFX cards.

Changelog will follow as soon as it is ready. Sorry for the delay. :stressed: :...: :augh:

Downloads will be made available at our usual site:
Warzone 2100 file releases on Sourceforge.

Source tarball:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/warzone ... z/download

Mac:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/warzone ... g/download
Windows:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/warzone ... e/download

Changelog:
2010-11-01: Version 3.0 beta 2

GeneralGraphics
  • Fix: Models for Assault Cannon, Cluster/HEAP Bomb projectiles, Plasmite Flamer, AA Flak Cannon, Sunburst AA Rocket Array (#2277, #2278, 54646f040a)
Multiplayer
  • Fix: Don't send stats for players not in the game (2c68a674d3)
and it ends here.

NOTE: This release will have more verbose output in your netplay log.
This is to try and find out what is going on with scores that people have been reporting about.

If you are in a game, and *after* you have played it, and had issues with your score being 0 then upload your netplay*.log on a trac ticket here: http://developer.wz2100.net/newticket I need the host's log file as well as the player in question.

I don't believe you when you say the changelog will follow soon. It didn't make it in the last announcement.

Perhaps a better idea would be to put together a "3.0 Changes" wiki page that contains the major differences between the last stable release and version 3.0, with a more concise 'issues fixed / updated' notice between beta releases so those who tried beta 1,2,etc will know what differences to expect.

The reason is, we haven't finalized a format yet, we are still working on it. :stressed:

If anyone wants to help with this process, be my guest, parse the git logs, and create a changelog.

Oh, and I am limited in time, I rather work on fixes, than messing with changelogs. :stare:
and it ends here.

Why does it need to be an exhaustive changelog?

The issue at hand is that somebody who is not a WZ2100 player/developer does not know what the difference is between 2.x and 3.0... a list of major changes is a useful marketing tool, not just scratching the itch of FOSS addicts like myself.

What are the new features in 3.0? This information should be on the wiki anyway. ;)

The decals named as "tile-55.png" and "tile-62.png (rockies tileset) have not transparency. They need fixing.

I came across a comment by Gerard after browsing through some of the previous bug reports, and it seems to me that a new ticket for a bug report, explaining the problem with the decals, could work better than a forum post.

Speaking of bug reports  could this fix take car of decals that flash when panning/rotating the camera?

Never heard about this bug, but this fix is only for 2 specific textures that looked wrong when merged with the terrain renderer.

Just be happy that there is someone out there that is keeping this game going. The game was release in April 10, 1999 and most game companies have nothing to do with it after 2yrs. I'm very happy that somebody is doing this for this game. Plus most people wouldn't even look at this game other than people that have played it for years.
