2.0.5 Release Candidate 1

Post by DevUrandom »

After we discovered that the 2.0.4 release was quite bugged, especially for singleplayer users, we decided we need another bugfix release as soon as possible.

Here it comes! Shiny new 2.0.5 RC1.

First it fixes those nasty bugs which prevented you from playing the campaign and the tutorial.
But we even went beyond that and worked hard to get you some new features into the game!
Mainly those are:
  • Basic ingame map editing (cheat mode only)
  • Beacons in multiplayer mode to notify your teammates of important places
  • Some UI enhancements
  • --nosound option to disable sound (reenable with --sound)
  • --shadows no changed to --noshadows for convenience
You need to reset your keymap to be able to access the new features.
Do this in Options->Key Mappings->Wastebin (in the top left corner).

Note: This is a release candidate, not the final version!

For a more detailed list, especially for the keys to the new features, you should have a look into our ChangeLog.

Get the files from our downloads page.

Windows installer and MacOSX diskimage will follow soon.
EDIT: MacOSX diskimage is now available.
EDIT: Windows Installer has been uploaded!

The Windows Installer wasn't that easy, because of the needed MSVC Redistributable.
Now it is included into the installer and is installed together with Warzone by default.
This bloats up the installer by about 10MB. :( (I also included the 64bit version.)

But I hope that it works now on all systems.

I am interested whether Windows 98 users are able to install the redist, because the Microsoft says that VC Redist is Win98 compatible, but on another page they also say that the Microsoft Installer 3.0 (which is required for the redist) is not Win98 compatible...
(Do you see any logic behind that? Or is that only visible to Microsoft employees?)

With that hardware it should really be faster...

Start the game with the --cheat option. (Create a shortcut to warzone2100.exe and edit the target afterwards, to look similar to "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe --cheat".)
Then start a campaign (load or new) and type SHIFT+BACKSPACE. That will tell you that the cheats have been enabled. Not type "t" to type a message and then "timedemo" to see the average FPS of the last 5 seconds in the upper left corner of the screen.

What does it say, how many FPS do you get?

Sory but i undestand - where i must tun off shadows - in nvidia driver (detonators) or in te game (i seach in my documents/warzone2100/config and did't find szadows boolean).
I try use atl+s in normal game and oinly select may units (witch check mode to) - i think this maybe bug in driver or in MSVC Redistributable.
I tray use in the same os 2.0.4 and works wich out cage 2 cage ( i see muych beter speed and didnt want to check - so don askme) - fore some days i will tray use this relase in may ubuntu 6.0.6 LTS ( may secondary system) - bay .

Ok i test this relase in may ubuntu - with some packages from unoficial repository and i think M$ have breake down MSVC Redistributable - because other game such like pain Kiler BK edition in full screane witch my hardware ~50 fps (SWGA and 4 AA ...).
On ubuntu i can activate cheat mode but i cant run time demo - maybe didn't implemented yet?
On may ubuntu this relase works beter that previerus - didn't freez x.org 7.0 and don't have  cage 2 cage - bay :).

We also have a help and troubleshooting thread. ;)

Posting here is ok if you make comments on the release (problems with the installer, short remarks) but please don't abuse it to find out why WZ doesn't run as fast as you think it should... That goes into the troubleshooting area.

‎"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

If you mean the 403 (Permission Denied), I fixed that some time ago...
Otherwise I can't see anything to be broken...
