Test builds for people who have issues with game speed

Post by vexed »

Here are 4 builds that were made that we need your help in testing which version run better/faster on your machine.

Directions:
Use 7zip to un7zip the file to your Warzone 3.1.0 directory.
If the directory is located in your C:\Program files (or x86) then you need to run the build with administrator rights.
If you don't want to do it that way, then Copy the Warzone folder to another location, like d:\Warzone_test and then un7zip the test builds there.

Just get one of the 3.1 buildbot installer versions dated Sept. 8 or newer.
http://buildbot.wz2100.net/files/3.1/windows/
This will NOT work in MP, as the other builds before with 3.1.0 though.

Now, play, and report your experience.
Also, tell us what hardware you are using.

Thanks.

Is there anything specific you need, like framerates and such?

So far on my system (using Campaign 4 R16, which has known performance-impacting issues) T4 graphically runs the best.

[EDIT] Script stuff seems to lag on T4 by up to a full 30 seconds before events that are supposed to fire off actually *do* fire. I'll try the other builds to see if they suffer the same issue.

there is no change between versions so I vote for all of them
is there a real difference we should be looking for?

for me it made a folder called warzone 3.1 and in that you find the normal folders and you can place map in there

Tested on my FPSTestMap.

1) 6-7 fps
2) 30-50 fps
3) 30-50 fps
4) 30-50 fps

voted for 4, but not sure.

i had folder called "warzone 3.1" and my testing map was inside that folder, but portable warzone was unable to detect my maps from version 3.1.
So i was forced to find way how add maps.

Graphically, T4 runs the best -- but the script and pathing lag is gnarly.

In my view, it's a trade-off -- performance on one end takes away from performance on another end.

There's gotta be a solution somewhere that'll do both ends at peak performance.

Not yet.
I want more people to test & vote.

It does not matter, as long as you use the same settings for each version.

:hmm: That shouldn't be the case...

i think hard to catch good results without special testing maps (where warzone loaded enough).
Without testing maps i think impossible get lower than 60 fps without long game.
