yeah the patch fixed the error, but now I'm getting low FPS at the menu as well. I updated graphics drivers with no effect at all.

game worked great with 8 rc1

Is this with XP or Vista or something else?

The only time you get very low FPS is when the video driver isn't accelerating openGL.  You may have to upgrade or downgrade drivers to fix this.
As for why it isn't accelerating it, it could be many reasons, like the drivers don't support some openGL code, so it falls back to software rendering, or it is just a bug in the video drivers.

Yeah there is another thread that is talking about this .. They say I should downgrade my video drivers which I really don't want to do. My friend changed the game to 320x240 and said the framerate went berserk. I just got here with V208 so I have no idea if RC1 or older would work better or correctly.

heh, I'll downgrade the game before I downgrade my drivers.

again 8 rc1 works fine. Don't know what they broke but they did something for sure.
