Warzone 2100 Achievement Ideas

Although Warzone 2100 doesn't really need any achievement systems (as opposed to games like StarCraft 2 or Team Fortress 2), wouldn't it be neat if it did anyways? Well regardless, we could still have some fun coming up with fictional achievements for Warzone 2100 players to unlock.

A few examples:

- Mass Production: produce more than 500 units during the 1st 20 minutes of a multiplayer game.
- Overtime: build more than 1000 structures in a single multiplayer game.
- Aerial Superiority: produce more than 250 VTOLs in a single multiplayer game.
- Massive Coverage: produce more than 250 units and structures combined, that are armed with long-range artillery weapons such as Howitzers and Ripple Rockets, in a single multiplayer game.
- Death From Above: destroy more than 150 units and structures combined in a single multiplayer game using VTOLs.
- Shock & Awe: destroy more than 250 units and structures combined in a single multiplayer game using indirect-fire weapons.
- Toasty!: destroy more than 250 units and structures combined in a single multiplayer game using Flamers and other incendiary weapons.
- Demolition Derby: destroy more than 500 enemy structures in a single multiplayer game.
- The Sky is Falling!: destroy more than 100 VTOLs in a single multiplayer game.
- All Your Base are Belong to Us: assimilate more than 50 units and structures combined using NEXUS Link Turrets in a single multiplayer game.
- Divine Judgment: build and use a LasSat Command Post during the 1st 30 minutes of a multiplayer game.
- Energy Crisis: destroy more than 50 Oil Derricks in a single multiplayer game.
- Blitzkrieg: win a multiplayer match in less than 10 minutes.
- Total Warfare: destroy more than 2500 units and structures combined during the 1st 60 minutes of a multiplayer game.

What achievements can you come up with? :)

Goals would probably need tweaking based on number of oils/player and players/map.

I love the idea of a real achievement system. Currently I'm doing 'dummy achievements' in Cam 4 but they don't really do anything other than give tech rewards to the player. I'd like them to mean something a little more (points, etc).

points
 :o :D :3

Never thought of that, but, really, seriously, calculating points in campaign, as a single weighted mean of your campaign beating quality, may be quite inspiring.

This is good idea, I've suggested something like that for campaign, in form of medals, but that topic got derailed...

But there is important issue with achievements for MP games, difficulty to achieve them would depend on many factors, like skills of opponents, map etc. So could need additional factors to compensate that.

It's easier if conditions are comparable, like in Shank 2, where these are available in single player campaign plus few for cooperation mode.
In our case it would be easiest to give them for SP mode, like for not loosing any units during game, completing campaign, completing challenges etc.

Thanks guys, though I originally posted this thread here in the Other Talk section instead of in the Ideas and Suggestions section since it might be seen as something more casual instead of something that should be seen in a more serious light.

Anyways, I'm still interested in seeing what achievements you guys may come up with. I have a couple other ideas:

- Rise Up From the Ashes: Complete the singleplayer campaign.
- A War Hard Fought: Complete the singleplayer campaign on Hard difficulty.
- From Zero to Hero: Level up a rookie unit to a hero unit in a singleplayer campaign. (Pre-placed units that start at higher experience level, such as the hero units rescued in Gamma 4, don't count.)
- Band of Brothers: Finish the singleplayer campaign with 40 or more units of Veteran experience level or higher.
- 7-Hour War: Finish the singleplayer campaign in less than 7 hours.
- Can't Touch This: Finish Gamma missions 7 and 8 without losing a Factory, Cyborg Factory, VTOL Factory, Research Lab, Power Generator, HQ, or Command Relay Center to a LasSat strike.
- No Mercy: Destroy all enemy structures on every mission (walls, gates, and tank traps can be excluded) in the campaign, including away missions such as Alpha 3, Alpha 11, Beta 2, Beta 4, and Gamma 4.
- For Science: Research every technology in the singleplayer campaign.
- You're Insane!: Win a skirmish game against an Insane AI without the help of any allies.
- Counter-Battery King: Destroy 100 or more artillery units and structures combined in a single multiplayer match using your own artillery units and structures.

This is impossible without "cheating" (in form of recycling those structures), since all structures in north part of map will be either destroyed or become inaccessible.

Why is recycling structures considered a form of cheating? If anything, I'd consider it a smart use of the Demolish Structure ability.

It allows to circumvent restrictions, especially units recycling, like in gamma 2 mission, you can avoid temporary loss of units by recycling them.

Maybe so in the case of recycling "units", but how does recycling "structures" circumvent any restrictions when I'm still limited to having 5 factories, research labs, etc. on the map at any time? Personally, I've always thought that recycling structures, then building them in safer zones (such as Team Gamma's reserve base from Gamma 6 in Gamma 7, then the missile silos later on in Gamma 8 ) was a smart move, since just leaving them there to get destroyed by a LasSat strike seems a foolish waste of resources.

You can demolish the silos and rebuild them?!!

I don't think so. In fact, I'm guessing that if they are removed from the map, then the mission fails.

Shadow Wolf TJC, yes, it would be really hard to not achieve this one not knowing that. :-P
Achievements should be given only for things that are more exceptional.

What about more *relative* achievements? rather than awards being absolute numbers to shoot for, they are awarded in relation to the scores of other players

For example, in multiplayer games:

Award for killing more units than all other players combined
Award for destroying more buildings than all other players combined
Award for achieving victory while losing the fewest number of units
Award for achieving victory while losing the fewest number of buildings
Luddite Award: Achieved victory with the lowest tech level.
Thrift award: Achieved victory while spending the least amount of money.
Canadian award: Won the match and killed the fewest number of units overall; typed "sorry" into the console at least once during the match.
Zerg Rush award: defeat a T3 opponent using only T1 weapons.
Leave No Man Behind: Did not lose a single unit.
Stand Your Ground Award: Did not lose a single structure.
The Perfect Victory Award: Did not lose a single unit or structure

:lol2:

I like the sound of the relative awards. On games like Grepolis they have a set of daily awards that are relative - eg. looted most cities, attacker of day, defender of day, etc. They also have pre-defined achievements as well - so you get an award for capturing X cities, then a better version of that award when you've captured X*3 cities and so on.
