people hosting games with slow machines

Post by Originway »

is there a way to find out how fast the host machine is?
I have joined a few games where the slow indicator pops up and it is always the host

what are some of the indications that the game will be slow?
does it have to do with map type, amount of players, amount of AIs or what?

Number of objects on a map and number of AIs, often a combination of both, can cause games to slow down. However, until game starts, I'm not sure how the issue could be predicted.

It would be useful if AIs could keep track of whether they are alive or not, and if dead stop their event listeners. While that could be implemented in game engine, I'd prefer it weren't because I often revive an AI via debug mode while testing stuff out.

maybe add a benchmark with lots of units on a big map and that will give some kind of hosting score?
