I don't know how much this will help everyone else since I am late to the party.
I'm sure that everyone has already converted a bulk of the old maps they own.
But here is a little batch file I created to do the grunt work.
Code: Select all
@echo off
path=d:\zip
set /p name=What is the map name?
cd map
ren *.gam %name%.gam
ren addon.lev %name%.addon.lev
ren Map1. %name%.
md multiplay
cd multiplay
md maps
cd ..
move %name%. multiplay\maps\
move %name%.gam multiplay\maps\
7za a -r %name%.zip *.*
ren %name%.zip %name%.wz
rd /s /q multiplay
@echo Map converted to new format.
@echo Copy the .Lev and .Wz file to your Warzone2100/Maps dir.
@pause
Download 7zip command line - 7za457.zip (link below)
Unzip 7Zip to a folder like
c:\zip
Make new folder anywhere and place the Convert.bat file there.
Edit the 2nd line to reflect the name of the folder you put 7Zip
Path=c:\zip
Make new folder and name it Map it should be in the same folder as the batch file.
Using WDG Explorer extract all the files into the Map folder you just made.
Run the Convert.bat file.
When you enter the map name in at the prompt make sure to do the full name
8c-Mine
Open the Map folder again.
Copy the .Lev and .Wz file into your Warzone 2100/Maps directory, create one if its missing.
**Note:
Might not work with all maps. Conversion based of instructions in this post.
If a map has custom Audio, Models or Textures this will
NOT convert them, and the map will probably not work.
When choosing a folder to put 7zip into, make it a simple, short name with no spaces under the root folder.
Putting it in a folder that uses long names with spaces will be hard to edit to the Path line.
The folder that you place convert.bat and folder containing the map data can be anywhere.
